Try these websites: www.bobbibrowncosmetics.com, www.imanbeauty.com, or www.makeup411.com I'm sure these will definately help you. Just remember your beautiful both outside and in and no make up could change that. :-)

Find a shade of foundation that matches your skin tone, using a triangular make up sponge gently blot it over areas on your face that need covering...after drying,...apply a loose face powder to set the foundation..then apply your eye colour, next 2 coats of mascara then a bit of blusher..I do these steps every day and I look natural and not at all like I have make-up on..Play around with colour and soon you will find out what looks and works best for you..good luck and I am sure you will succeed in finding the perfect look!

You may want to apply a light moisturizer underneath the foundation...it gives a better base for your make to be applied to

Okay start in a good retail store. Like Macy's has as colored counter for all the most beautiful variations that the mainlines don't offer. You need to speak to a woman with your skin type, she will offer the TIPS and colors that will make you be the very best you. Makeup is a tool, you work it, not it work you.

the best thing that i can tell u is too go to a department store where they sell make-up, and ask someone to show u how to put it on the correct way. ebony fair is a good one to try. i'm 41 and just only wear mascara, sometimes alittle eye liner, also i wear lipstick and glosses. no foundation or cheek stuff. too me once u put on foundation, then you have to continous to wear it. sometimes i c someone without their foundation, and boy do they look different. i own eye make-up, but is afraid to wear it because i think that it is not right. the females in the books eye make-up is so flawless. i myself need to go and to go and get a quick lesson on putting on eye make-up. so give it a try. i just brought some from avon.

IF you would like pictures of the steps you can go to either www.covergirl.com, or www.maybeline.com. They show different shades for the different skin tones, plus they have an interactive guide that can show & tell you how to apply and what kind of brushes to use. plus I think its maybeline that has a section where u can upload a picture of yourself & create your own personal makeup bag (which helps when shopping).
I have personally fell inlove wit mac cosmetics they have one of the best choices for women of color in my own opinion (and I don't wear makeup too often).

Alot of times if you go to the make up counters in JCPenny or whever there is an actual make up counter in the store then most of the time they will show you and or do a "makeover" (most of the time they are free) so that you can see how to properly apply each and every step.

Hard to determine a color for you without seeing you face to face, but i would suggest going into your local Macy's and go to the MAC counter tell them your situation and they will pick colors that will match your skin tone. I DO NOT suggest pastels at all. Dark skin girls with pastels look trashy and cheap. You might want a more natural look something shimmery but close to your skin tone and you might want to use some mascara and eyeliner (black) and curling your eyelashes (if they are not already curly) adds to the look.

No website or book can give you the specifics as to what is best for you. You need to go to a specialist to have your skin tone and hair color examined and then prescribe a color or technique to you. That said, I highly suggest that you go to a cosmetic counter like Mac or Chanel and have the reps. there advise you.

covergirl.com has great make-up applying tips! I lover them and use them all the time. Also if your dark skinned, use a smoky color as an eyeshadow. Plum, brown, and if it's shimmery, that's a plus.
