I was once told that it's not appropriate for a woman under 35 to wear pearls. Is this true?

No, it isn't true. Pearls don't look good on little girls, but on adult women they are lovely. Pearls are a classic piece of jewelry, and go with almost any nice outfit, from tailored to downright dressy.
The one that isn't appropriate for a woman under 35 to wear is the long rope of pearls, that hangs out over a dowager's bosom. You definitely need time to work up to that look!

Yes it's true. It is highly inappropriate. A woman under 35 does not have the status and elegance that comes with wearing pearls. A woman under 35 wearing pearls looks like she matured too early and is trying too hard to impress.

No. I wore pearls for my formal pictures Senior year. They were beautiful and I know many women (over 20 but below 35) that wear pearls. I even know women below 20 that wear pearls. Pearls are beautiful on any women no matter what age, as long as she's 16 or over.

Nope... pearls are great but I think pearly necklaces should be worn by 18+ cuz they do have a tendency to make someone look sophisticated. For kids... pearl studs are fine.

Well I'm 23 and I ADORE black pearls.
I do think you need to look professional, polished, and accomplished to make them work for you.
I think you once heard that because younger women tend to like flashy jewels like diamonds. And pearls do tend to be associated with older women.
But younger women just need to have the right look and the right outfit to make them work period.

I don't think ... any age you just need to know when and where to were it pearls are so elegant I put it on for elegant evening with black dress, I hope this will help you

no but most girls under 21 are wearing fake ones but also some of them are real. so expect fake ones from younger girls and possible real ones on older ones
