I say this with all sincerity, I hope that you never end up a hostage to someone for your beliefs. And for those of you throw insults, I happen to be a 40 yr old married man living well in this country and saw with my own eyes what happened on 9/11. Don't kid yourselves, we live in dangerous times.

It appears that the fact that none of those things have happened in this Country in the last five years is a BAD thing - because it "proves" that there is no WAR on Terror.
That's what those bozos think. How about we who understand the world send some pregnant woman draped in dynamite into Grand Central and let her blow herself, and 500 other innocent folks, to Kingdom Come. Because we're SMARTER than they are with their stupid conspiracy theories.
Oh, and all Arabs and Persians are real glad the Jews are living in their Promised Land, too, aren't they?
Our boys AND GIRLS are DYING over there, but there's no War - right.
Many thanks and prayers to our servicemembers and our leaders who have seen to it that ANOTHER 3,000 innocent Americans haven't been murdered lately.
If they think there's no war, why don't they go over to Yemen wearing an American Flag on their T-Shirt which says "American and PROUD of it!!" I wonder how long they'd last?

We get it. We just don't agree with your points supporting it. Remember that 9/11 was Osama's play. Bush used it as an excuse to start a war with Iraq, and Osama is still out hiking around the countryside. The beheadings, the suicide bombers, and most of the ad nauseum stuff didn't start until w put us in Iraq. So you need to rethink your definition of "terrorism" before jumping all over those of us who think that had w not started the war in Iraq, the world would today, be a better place - even with the 9/11 tragedy.

Most people today do not have that tenacity.

I play poker about twice a month and we always hope someone will bring a new player to the table that lacks confidence. These are the ones that always fold and don’t have enough confidence in themselves to stay when the have the right hand. These are the best for as we don’t have to bluff… just stay when we have anything better than an average hand.

That’s what the terrorist are doing… they are staying with a bad hand and only if we fold will we lose. The best example is Ted Kennedy. While he talks loud and big he lacks confidence. Within two weeks going into Iraq he called it a quagmire. He was ready to Cut & Run. He did this when he drove off the bridge when that girl drowned. He Cut & Run. She died because he lacked confidence and tenacity. He could have become a hero but instead he picked the path that forever placed him in the group of a poor character of a man. Now he is just loud to overcome his insecurities.

We know what Carter did with is 444 days of negotiating with terrorist. How inflation skyrocketed; how unemployment went through the roof; how fuel prices skyrocketed and most of all how Americans lost confidence in themselves. This was the most down this country was ever in… much worse than during Vietnam. You can see it in his eyes today… no confidence. I believe he is a nice man but he hurt the country and confidence in themselves tremendously.

Now one of those Iranian hostage takers that dealt with Carter’s weakness is the leader of Iran. He thinks America lacks confidence and has exploited the weakness of those like Carter, to his benefit. His propaganda has spread like wildfire this time more than it even did during Carter’s 444 days. It worked for him in the past and it will work for him again, except this time if we Cut & Run, we won’t loose self-confidence, we will be under his control just like hostages he took because he will have power over all the oil in the region. Our future will be dictated by Iran and not our leaders whether Democrat or Republican.

This is why we are so fortunate to have a man like GW Bush at this time in history. This isn’t simply about politics anymore. It is about how we will live over the next 50 years, how our children will live and even our religion regardless if we are Christian or Atheists. It will be about survival if Bush doesn’t stay steadfast with the plan.

The "War on Terror" as it is being fought isn't going to work. Tiring to get at these people with bombs, tanks and aircraft is like tiring to swat a fly with a hammer. You may kill the fly but you are going to beat the house to pieces in the process.
We need better intelligence. If their leaders start dieing from a case of high powered lead poisoning, maybe the next in line will think twice about starting up with us.

Some people can't distinguish between reality and politics. Such are the people that work their damnedest to stop policies that find and put an end to terrorist activities, but then complain that not enough is being done, and that we aren't safe. Politics.

Reality: Wackos out there want to kill others that are not the same faith (even then), and will try to kill as many as possible with no regard for their own lives, or even the lives of their children (just look, many islamic suicide bombers took full advantage of 'take your kid to work day').

All nasty stuff. But the "war on terror" is just a marketing phrase.

Things like this have been going on for thousands of years, just using different names and different technology. What we call terrorists used to be called names like "bandits", "pirates" and the "barbarian horde". The names have changed, and so have the available weapons, but the threat has always been there.

Your odds of being killed by a terrorist are roughly equal to the odds of being killed in a natural disaster (hurricane, tornado, earthquake, wildfire, etc). And much less than your risk of being killed in a car crash, or being murdered by a serial killer.

Yes, it's tragic and senseless for those who do lose their lives, or who lose loved ones to such disasters. But we don't panic every time we see a car drive by. Or every time it rains. We recognize that those threats are there, and we do what we can to minimize them.

There will always be terrorists and criminals. At least as long as there is hatred and fear in the world. Living in terror and panic, sacrificing our liberties to cower like rabbits, surrendering the freedoms this country was founded on in the name of security -- these will not make the threat go away.

In fact, giving in to panic and fear and terror, letting go of our belief in the greater good, these are the goals of the terrorists. They want us to be afraid. They want us to close our doors and windows, to hide under the bed, to allow the police to break into our homes and private lives so we have no liberty or happiness. This is what they want to accomplish -- us living in fear.

The threat is never going to go away. The only thing we can control is how we choose to live in response to it.

Some people are so focused on getting their party in power that they lose all objectivity and can only see things through their current belief system. They reject any information that doesn't agree with their belief.

It's important for all of us not to get fixed on any political party; they will always let you down.

The war makes sense to me for the most part; but if I were decidedly against all wars for any reason I could certainly find fault with the current campaign.

But what can we do? We do business with people in other countries with their consent; but I think that makes their enemies hate us. After all, the US has made a lot of millionaires in the world. Some are hateful and jealous and will attack us and their countrymen who do business with us.

Saddam was minding his own business. We go in there, wreck the country and create chaos and now we blame them for terrorism. What do you expect people to do when someone attacks them? Just lie down and accept it? If you stir a hornets nest be sure of being stung. Iraq was an agenda of Bush and his cronies even before he came to office. If some other country atttacks our country are you willing to just lie down and accept it? Maybe people like you and those supporting you might but I, sure as hell, will fight. Let them call me a terrorist if they want but they will get what is coming to them.

Now Afganisthan is a different matter. We are there for a reason.

people understand the war on terror. just not the war in iraq, becaus iraq had nothing to do with 9/11 (despite the fact that a lot of americans are still dumb enough to think so). saddam was not sheltering lots of terrorists, we spent $900 million to figure out that the reason we went over (WMDs) didn't exist. and if people keep going on and on about liberating people, well why didn't we start with belarus, who has enough uranium for a bomb and hates us too? of course there isn't much oil in belarus. and there are lots of other countries we could have started with that would have been easier to tackle. people are just sick of being lied to about government priorities, and are sick of our government talking about human rights while blatantly endorsing torture (Bush signed the toture ban, but with the caveat that he only has to follow that law when he wants to) and other human rights violations
