If you must, be VERY careful. They hate water a LOT. I've bathed my oldest one and he mainly just puffed up and floated. My littlest one (when hatchling sized) was too small to bathe so I put him in about a quarter of an inch of water with a washcloth in it. The problem is that they're so close to the ground it doesn't take much water to submerge them, and they freak out and aspirate (inhale water) quite easily. I suggest bathing only if it's a larger one (9 inches or so), and still make the water very shallow and VERY hot (but not scalding) and make sure you dry him off very well, especially the tail. If it's smaller try rubbing him with a warm wet washcloth rather than dump him in water, and still dry him off as best you can.
I have noticed that they have a tendency to crap and then immediately walk through it. I've had to deal with a few stinky Uros at work... Mine never seem to do it. I think it may be because they have more room (?)

You can try giving him a very light bath by misting him with a spray bottle. Avoid getting too much on his tail though as it may collect there and cause the spikes to rot. Also make sure to clean out the substrate. That's probably where he's getting the bad smell from.

Wash them in rather warm water, with unscented detergent (it relatively is a biggy) and dry them on the main well-liked placing. The scent is the towels getting moldy, so if this wiggs you out, or the scent does no longer something yet gets worse, throw the towels away.
