Sulfur occurs naturally in the body. Are you sure you're allergic to sulfur as opposed to the sulfa drugs?

Though there are sulfur atoms in sulfa drugs (sulfonamides), it's not the sulfur that people are allergic to. It's other stuff in the sulfa drugs that when metabolized cause the allergic reaction.

Some people have allergic reactions to sulfites, which are food additivies. But those reactions aren't correlated, meaning that if you're allergic to sulfa drugs, you're no more likely than anyone else to be allergic to sulfites.

I can't say I know much about sulfates, but I do know that glucosamine sulfate does not cause an allergic reaction even if you are sensitive to sulfa drugs or sulfites.

Someone with a sulfur allergy would likely have the same reaction to sulfate.
