I don't see much, first if we had freedom we could chose from more canidates instead of just two parties. Second if we had true liberty we wouldn't have so much regulations, just think you need government approval for most anything now. Third if we were free to pursue happiness we wouldn't have all this red tape in life and could develop our own idea of happiness.

What the hell is your problem? Go get a job, then start a family. Do something to help someone less fortunate instead of thinking of yourself only. This is America, love it or LEAVE it.

This is not the same country as it was 50 years ago. Our parents enjoyed the fruit of the land and freedoms that are now gone. I think we are more like a communistic country now. Don't do this, don't do that. Damn, you can get a ticket for just about anything these days. Big brother is watching you and me. We need to be like we were when we fought the revolution and the Boston tea party. I guess that spirit is long gone now. But that was what this country was founded on, freedom! Now they are taking it all away. It's nice to hear someone say something about it. Shows there may be some spirit left in this country. Power to ya . . .

I suppose you'd prefer Queen Elizabeth II taxing you to death and telling you where and how long you could live. Oh, and don't forget impressment, taxation without representation, more taxation, and the taxes - for which you'd get NOTHING. And if you were found with a gun - you couldn't own one legally - you'd be hung in the Town Square the same day. No right to an attorney, no speedy trial - just get thrown in the local jail for as long as the Queen or the Duke or the Lord wanted you there. And pray you had a wife and/or friends who'd bring you food and clothing for the months and years you'd wait for a sham trial held by some guy wearing a WIG for crissake. I hear she's a real b***c, too. At least her son thinks so. I could go on and on but you get the idea - you sure wouldn't be allowed to ask stupid questions like yours in a public forum.

We as a human beings rather have a could bypass decrease back and be re-knowledgeable approximately our Founding Fathers. What our Founding Fathers meant by utilising "the Pursuit of Happiness", replaced into the main dazzling to possess assets, the exhilaration that the possessing of assets dropped on the guy. you may bypass decrease back and consider the Debates that got here approximately in the process the Constitutional convention. And specific we do could bypass decrease back to the Founding Fathers and study what they actually meant by utilising what they wrote. There rather isn't something new that we as a rustic are dealing with immediately that our Founding Fathers did no longer face decrease back then. George Washington had to handle Gays interior the army, Thomas Jefferson had to handle government run wellness Care. There rather isn't something new, we as a rustic have dealt with those problems interior the previous, we basically have not been taught approximately them in our background training.

Well, I still see something that resembles it. But you have a point that many other western democracies allow greater freedoms. And those freedoms that are provided are being gradually eroded with reference to a perceived shared enemy in terrorism, which is the textbook criteria for a drift towards authoritarianism - has played out exactly the same way countless times thru history.

I see lots of people pursuing those goals.

The problem is, the farther away politicians gets from their constituents, the less they seem to share the same goals.

I read an interesting article exploring the concept of non-freedom as it applies to current American society and existing regulations. (link below). I'm not sure I agree with the points being raised, but they are an interesting perspective on the issue.

You mean LIFE, liberty, and pursuit of happiness.

To answer your question: NO.

First off we have the Roe travesty that denies the most innocent human beings their inherent right to life. Then the Terri Schiavo fiasco--her rights were denied right and left.

Liberty? Don't see it, not with the Patriot Act (or rather, Treason Act). Not with the wiretapping crap going on, not when you're practically strip-searched at the airport.

I had a 6th-great-grandfather who fought in the American Revolution. He must be spinning in his grave.

Regular people don't have to deal with too many government regulation, mostly small and large businesses with the power to destroy lives and the environment, so in the interest of the public good we make them go through a few hoops before they do something that could threaten the public.

your an idiot. Do you realize if we could do absolutely anything and everything, when and where we wanted we would be living in total chaos. We have to have some boundaries and laws.
We live very free, especially when you look at other countries.

Question to you: What do you consider yourself doing whenever you ask a question on yahoo, and you question the government?
Are you not using on of your freedoms, freedom of speech. You in some countries you would be put to death because you question the way of the government.

That would be "Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness". And yes, I can successfully enjoy all of those things, granted a little de-regulation would be nice, but it's not as bad as it could be. And you can choose whatever candidate you want, it's just that the two major parties are larger than the rest.
