Before you post any dumb things, know that I am NOT an attention whore, I am serious!
Lately, I find myself wanting to be thinner... Actually, I've felt that way for a lot of my life. I'm 13 and I sometimes want to be anorexic. Not the I'm-so-skinny-I'm-about-to-die anorexia, just the my-stomach-is-really-flat-and-I-look-perfect kind of anorexia. I just want to be skinny. I like my body except for my upper legs and my stomach. I don't know why. I'm guessing it's from my 4 siblings calling me fat all my life. I'm just really confused. I don't even really want to be skinny, I just want to love myself. I wanna be happy with who I am and what I look like. I'm currently seeing a phyciatrist about my self-esteem problems, but I don't think it's woorking. I'm just really confused about my body. I'm at a point in life where I worry what everyone thinks about me. I want to be accepted. I could seriously cry because I just want to be normal. I want to be happy with who I am and confident--

that everyone thinks I'm hot or something. What went wrong? I heard that it's hereditary, but the only person I'm related to that has had anorexia is my aunt. Could I have gotten it from her or something? I just want to be happy. Grrrrr!!!!

You're at an age where image is really considered to be first priority. I suggest you speak with either a counselor about it - or a teen line. Just exercise and be healthy, and do a bunch of situps! It is normal to be self conscious about your body - quite a few women feel that way, but to be anorexic - that is a serious condition that is psychological that has physical effects. Why ruin your beauty by doing this to yourself? Sweetie, just be healthy and enjoy life by having FUN - not worrying about this. This will not win you friends, or that guy.

So far, you aren't anorexic. And you don't want to be, as much as you might think you do. If you become anorexic, you will be the "I'm so skinny i'm about to die" type of anorexic, eventually. However, if you want to have the "my stomach is really flat" type of appearance, you shouldn't try being anorexic to get that way. Just start eating healthier foods (and don't overeat, but DO eat when you're hungry) and exercising more. Gradually limit your calorie intake by counting how many calories you eat in a normal day and reducing it by a few hundred calories. For example, if you currently have a 2000 calorie diet, you might try reducing your calorie intake to 1800 calories a day. Don't try to reduce it any more than 500 calories at most, because you either won't stick with it or will put yourself in serious health danger. Beware: you won't see yourself getting thinner immediately, and you might not lose ANY weight at first, but over time you'll become thinner (and healthier!) Another tip is that eating many small meals (like 6 times a day) instead of a couple of big ones tends to help. And DEFINITELY eat breakfast, at least a bowl of cereal.
But another way to be thinner is to exercise more. Instead of watching TV or going on the computer for one half hour a day, do exercise. This could be running around the block, doing crunches, pushups, and other things in your home, going to a gym, playing sports, or using an exercise tape- whatever works for you. A friend and I joined the gym together and that has helped me get thinner because we offer ourselves support. But whatever you do, just STICK WITH IT because that's the most important thing. And you might actually gain weight at first this way, because muscle is heavier than fat. Don't worry about that though, because even as your weight increases a bit, you're getting thinner, and eventually your weight will go down too. Good luck!

I had anorexia and it doesn't make you any hotter or help your self esteem. You start to feel really bad about yourself and you get out of control, you make yourself miserable all the time and wear baggy unattractive clothes because you feel your fat. Also people look at you in disgust because you are starving yourself so you really don't look good. You lose you beautiful hair and your skin goes pale with a yellowish tint. You look like a bobble head and you spend thousands of dollars on treatment including the hospital. Once you start being anorexic and I mean truely anorexic, it is almost impossible to stop without help.

Been there, done that. People look at you like you have an illness (like AIDS or something) or think you are a heroin addict. Your face sinks in and you have extra skin just hanging there. Your hair thins and your butt disappears. Yeah, it's cool to say you wear a size 2 and it is cool to know that you can go to a department store and fit into any new styles they have but rarely do the opposite sex find it appealing or attractive. People constantly are watching you to see if and what you eat. It becomes less your problem and more of everyone else's around you.

Honestly, I think most girls your age go through this, I did when I was your age, and I imagine it is even harder nowdays. Probably not as many girls will admit it, as for your siblings calling you names. that's just them being your siblings. My sister called me fat and looking back at that time I was in a size 6. You are 13, you haven't REALLY begin to develop, you will lose your baby fat and start developing more give it time, I remember how hard it was. I came out of it, so will you.

You don't want to be anorexic. You want to go on a diet and lose five pounds.
As an ex-anorexic, I know a lot of people who have suffered and even died from this disease. This is really offensive.

"I like my body except for my upper legs and my stomach." That's great! A good exercise for legs is riding your bicycle standing up. Stomach? Hmm... Sit ups?

Why don't you try diet and strategic excercises before you jump to anorexia? There are other ways to lose a belly.
