I had a M/C at 4 weeks and when I went into the ER, he said that my levels were down to 3.12 from 0-14 days pregnant. Here is the weird thing, this happened two weeks ago, and I am getting all my pregnancy symptoms now. I cannot stay awake, I feel sick and I just...feel pregnant (I've had a full term pregnancy). I have read that women can be told they were having a M/C then come to find out they were pregnant with twins and just lost one of them. I was bleeding and cramping, but was told not to come in for a D&C or another blood test. What do you think? Has anyone ever heard of the twins thing? Oh, and they wont give me another blood test...jerks

I've never heard of this...but anythings possible. Why can't you go to another doctor in another town?

you must be proactive when it comes to your own healthcare. i work in the healthcare industry and know this to be true.
demand a simple lab order from your doctor to test for the pregnancy hormone. your levels should not be doubling or rising if you m/c.
also, has anyone done a vaginal ultrasound to see a baby or the sac?
i had a m/c last month. i was 2.5 moths along after getting pregnant with in-vitro. this is the most devistating thing that has ever happened. i feel your pain and hope that u didn't miscarry but i don't know what the chances are. i will tell you that it takes time for those hormones to be out of our system. i was taking high doses of a progesterone injection (helps maintain a pregnancy) because of doing the in-vitro. but the day i was told that the baby's heart was no longer beating, they told me to discontinue all meds and hormone drugs. i had a d&c 2 days later. yet, 1 wk after the d&c, my nipples started leaking and i was feeling very tired again. but my other symptoms were gone, like the sickness when i smelled food. i had the d&c on 7/10 and my boobs are still slightly sore and leaking a little still. my ob/gyn said that it could take a few months for my body to get back to normal.
you may be experiencing the same things. i hope not, i hope that the twin theory is correct but u must have a u/s and another blood panel to determine your levels. why did they not want to do a d&c? did you bleed and pass fetal tissue? i'm sorry that sounds so graphic and morbid, i know. otherwise you are risking infection from having some of that remain inside you. tissue remaining could be causing your levels to remain higher as well. bottom line, go demand what u need from your doctor.

good luck

That happened with my cousin. She lost one twin and almost lost the other, but with a lot of bed rest she went full term. My suggestion, take it easy for the next couple of weeks and go see a different OB/GYN to have a blood test. Dont risk losing the other baby if it is twins.

I am sorry to hear about this. I have had two children. My oldest is 6 and my youngest is 10 months. I never got sick or didn't have a problem staying awake but i did have cramps.
I had to go to three different doctors before they could tell if i was pregnant. So if i was you i would get a second or third opinion.

This happened to my sister in law. She miscarried at about 2 weeks then later realized that she was still pregnant. Her midwife informed her that she miscarried a twin (i still kinda feel bad). They did an ultrasound and found a healthy fetus inside. I am with everyone in here that said get a second opinion.

This is unheard of to have a miscarriage and a doctor not want to follow you and check to make sure you have fallen back to prepregnancy levels. Find a good OB/gyn and get checked out as soon as possible. I actually had the twins thing, but ended up losing both of them. I'm sure it is possible to only lose one though. Good luck!

They wont give you another blood test unless you insist upon it or pay for it yourself. Dont worry so much. let nature take its course. take it slow. you will be ok

im sorry to say dont get your hopes up
if the levels have declined you are not carrying a healthy baby. they simply want you to pass it naturally.
i had to it was terrible.
keep your head up, it just isnt your time.

I'm with Chica - find another doctor. If you have concerns, you need to have it checked out.
