Before I say what I am about to say, I need to say thank you to those who have committed their lives and lost their lives to make this culture work... Thank you!
I am going to say no. I have recently become disillusioned with the system. I have as much red white and blue in my blood as most people don't. Every patriotic holiday... I commemorate it with music and red white and blue. I am a social studies teacher and often the only things that make me tear up are things patriotic. There is a problem when I can't even encourage a student to say the pledge. I can get over the "under God" part, or not saying it because of religious reasons, but in most countries, this would be considered disrespectful. We are too splintered... there is a strong division between our country... we are barely united. It seems even stronger than in other times.
Our economy... yeah sure we are wealthy, but if you haven't noticed lately the rich are richer and the poor are poorer. We spend so much on froo-froo things... crazy court cases... crazy military actions (?). When people can sue over stupid stuff there is a problem... sue because the government didn't educate there children; sue the tobacco company for their choice to smoke and now they have lung smoke; people can go free on account of insanity (BSBSBSBS!!) even if its murder or lewd and lesivious acts. The ugly virus of materialism has infested into a pandemic of debt that many Americans will not be able to survive... Social security won't be there to rescue us in our old age.
Militarily... too many people dislike us world wide... even our own people even despise our military power (and maybe rightly so). Have we over stepped our bounds on making the world safe for democracy (?) ... yeah perhaps. Or have our interest in oil and other resources blinded our real spot in the world.
Culture... the fall of economy and military represent a fallen culture. I believe the effect and the wave American culture will continue to ripple for many centuries much as Roman and Greek and Chinese and other cultures and past empires still resonate.
Democracy has failed... it has come full circle... our ideals are haunted and gone to the Nth degree. The freedoms our forefathers established have been blasphemed... innocent until proven guilty has has become a farce... maybe it always was. Personal freedoms of speach and expression are taken aback when it interferes with being offensive to others... well it is either freedom of expression or take everyone's freedom of expression away for sake of offending no one... isn't that going back towards communism... all of us the same and equal... didn't that process fail too for the most part. ugh... i cannot think any further on this topic.

Its a rapidly changing world. Everyone comming up with something new every second. You never know what will click the next moment and turn into something big. Just like outsourcing turned the Indian economy down right up. In one of those answers I saw China, but China's political structure does not allow it to grow after a certain level, it growth will be arrested gradually. India on the other hand is democratic which supportsits current growth rate of almost 8%.

Because of globalization, economically we will be a major influence but we will not be the major power. Countries will start to become equal in power because of their ability to allow low wages and their growth of capitalism. Militarily, our power stemmed from the Cold War and having a country that opposes us. Now we have no one to challenge us, so our decisions become challenged by all. Countries will start to work together and not depend solely on one country because of their economic growth. Culturally, Americans will focus more on world cultures then our own. The world will start to share each others.
