In terms of a face to face battle, Peter's got at least 100 pounds on Homer. He'd make Homer look like Calista Flockhart. Homer and Peter both match up in terms of drunkenness, so if they fought drunk, I wouldn't place a bet on that one. Peter just might stumble over and have Homer fall on top of him, or vice versa.
In terms of the better show, The Simpsons are still edgy and hilarious after 16 and some odd seasons. Family Guy is relatively new in comparison so we'll see if it's got staying power. They're both HILARIOUS, but while Family Guy wins out always in terms of being politically edgy, The Simpsons kicks *** in terms of being edgy with issues in the news (buying prescription drugs from Canada, medicinal marijuana, etc.).

I have to root for Homer! I am a Simpsons fan all the way. Peter has a hard time fighting the chicken! Homer was a boxer and a side show circus freak (that took cannonballs to the belly) at one time. Homer took on President George Bush Sr. So I put my money on Homer!

The families are evenly matched. The things that are going to determine this is the little things. The simpsons are getting old though they are veterans. The Griffins are a lot younger and friskier but not as smart. I would have to give it to the Simpsons. Experience beats youth.
