What type of Dell Laptop? On mine, I can use the keys: Fn and the Up arrow or the Down arrow to adjust the brightness. Wooo, I just did it. Good luck!

you can also set it in the BIOS. But by default the brightness is turned down to extend battery life.

Look for a blue button next to "CTRL" on bottom left corner. Hold that blue "Fn" button and press up and down arrows to increase and decrease the brightness.

if you hold "fn" on the bottom left of the keyboard and press the keys that have the picture of the sun with and up and down arrows. you should be set.

the "sun" keys are either on the arrow keys or somewhere around F6-F7
