Wrong.
The time the US was fighting Iraq regular troops was over very fast.
Fighting Insurgents and other foreign fighters is what has taken a long time.
Not the same thing.
How long have we been in Germany? When did Berlin unify?
How many people died because of Saddom?
Its all on how you understand things.

Supporters don't cry-they lie. If indeed your facts are correct, that makes for a pretty sad statement as to the current state of the union-by the way, the vast majority of the country is deciding that maybe Iraq wasn't such a good idea; I never agreed with Bush's decision on that account anyway, and I know some of his own no longer think it was a good thing.

Your wrong ..sorry
WW2 actually went on for years later.. there was an insurgency then in germany much like there is in Iraq today.
The only difference is now the Leaders and others running this insurgency in Iraq understand how the US political system can work against us. They are fighting a political war and know that as long as they keep fighting and the Support for the war keeps tanking in the US .. they will win. in ww2 and the fighting that still went on for years later was eventually crushed because most of the world and the US was behind beating the Nazi's.
If you saw a US that wasnt so broken down the middle and was fully behind resolving and winning this war i believe there is nothing we couldnt accomplish in iraq.. unfortunetly there are those elements in the US that are gaining momentum and strength that are losing this war (politcally) for us
if you dont understand what i just wrote let me ask this.
Do you think that the United states if fully behind the war effort and its resources actually focused on winning this war.. that this would still be going on? Do you know that only 1/10 of our military might (if that) is behind this war effort?

Technically? The United States never declared war on Iraq. In fact, the last time the declaration of war was issued by the Congress was when it declared war on Germany, Italy, and Japan.
So, that being the case, the United States still counts WWII as it's longest war. Unless you count the War on Drugs...
...or the War on Poverty...
...or the War on Christmas...
...or the War on Cute and Fluffy Bunnies...

The war in Iraq will continue much longer then anyone can imagine. As long as Bush is in office no one is safe any where in this world. As for all those stupid Bush supporters who believe any garbage coming out of Bush's mouth and saying this war would be easy, well what part of easy are we all missing?
Didn't Bush just say those words to pacify those supporters of his and try to sound like he knew what he was talking about?
Why is it when it comes making such vital decisions like invading another country just to "STEAL" their oil or for whatever the lies are, why is it up to just one person who can declare war on others and the rest of us have to eat it and get blamed for all those stupid ideas of the office?
We did not need this war any more then Iraq needed it so why in hell are we still there killing so many innocents and so many of our own being killed there too?
This isn't our war at all, it's not Iraq's war either but it is Bush's war and because of his acts of terrorism so many, many innocents are being killed and as long as he is in office it will continue to get worse each and every day too.
Is it a wonder that we are all hated and every other country want to bomb us? Think about this you stupid Bush supporters as well as what this asker has to say too.
And to think that another stupid Bush may run for office of head of this country too. Hell no, no more Bush crap for this country or world ever again.
No one should ever have to go through with another Bush in any office for that matter, never again.

Well sir,
Ii would be please you to know that WWII involved an actual standing army with bases and leaders of an actual country. Not some ghost army that attacks at random spurts and can just blend in with the crowd. We have little knowledge as to where the terrorists are and what their next plan is. Also, the terrorists have no strategic area they wish to capture and then hold, they only want the US infidel to die along with the opposite religious group.
It also does not help that most of the world does not help us in this war as they did in WWII. It also doesn't help that our enemies have an almost unlimited supply of people willing to die for their cause (I don't mean fight, but literally kill themselves for their belief). The Germans eventually started to be worn down and the US' stronger economy beat theirs.
Furthermore, the war with Iraq's government was over many years ago. It is only this faceless enemy we have yet to beat. Which we are doing much better in this battle than in the one in Vietnam, which was similar to this war because the North Vietnamese fought with the same attack method.
I am not stating that I agree with all of Bush's methods or that I agree with his strategy in this war, but I agree that we must defeat the terrorists at all costs.

Two things,
1) You are comparing apples and oranges here a bit.....two different types of wars technologically, two different reasons the US got involved in the war, and the US is almost there souly alone..in Germany how many countries were there (how about nearly every nearby country in Europe).
2) Bush and his braintrust had NO CLUE it would be this difficult...and our credibility with the rest of the world is pretty much shot because of Iraq. Terrorism and Iraq have now been uttered in the same sentence so much, I bet 30% of americans think Sadam had something to do with 9/11....and there was no connection besides the fact that Sadam probaly enjoyed 9/11...but that was it.....but we could go round and round and on and on about this.
Bottom line, you cannot comapare the two timetables......it is two different kinds of wars.

If Americans would just look at the Anaconda Airbase that the US has built in Iraq, along with shopping malls, theaters, golf courses, restaurants, shopping, bowling , supermarkets, etc. Located SW of Bagdad by 25 miles, they would clearly understand America and it's military aren't going any ware. Were digging in. Anaconda is 15 miles x 15 miles in size, and we are building 12 other bases throughout Iraq!

It is a sad day in any war when there are groups of people undermining the actual conduct of the war... When the avowed enemy can use the same lines used by some of our citizens, one must wonder who is fighting whom. The voters don't approve of the dems as being able to keep the nation secure. Why do they continue to do so much to undermine it? Their conduct resulted in a failure in the winning of the Viet Nam conflict and now they are trying to accomplish the same thing. One has to wonder as to the motivation.. Is it really, all just from the "hate Bush" fanaticism?

The war with Iraq ended when Saddam was removed from power. The United States is currently at war with insurgents, not Iraq. So technically, they are 2 seperate things.

Operation Iraqi Freedom was a success. It's over. The "war" is finished. In case you haven't noticed, this is Operation Enduring Freedom. We're helping the Iraqis get back on their feet.
We are still at war with terrorism, and that will likely never change. It's like the police being at war with murder; it doesn't just stop one day because we've solved the problem. It's something you left-wing fanatics know nothing about: commitment.
