The Sunday newspaper has the largest collection of want ads. It's still one of the best places to go to find an open position. Temp agencies that do not charge the person looking for the job are great too. That is is a good place to get into a bigger company.

Google some research on line and think (or make a list) about what your desire is. What do you think you'd really like to do? Not just ANY Job but something that you have a passion for? Go from there. Have you thought about working from home? So many folks are doing that now and bringing in substantial income!! That's what I did and I love it! I can work in the comfort of my own home, be my own boss and decide when I work and when I take my breaks.
There's a lot of opportunities out there so do your research and DO check the BBB (better business bureau) to make sure a company is legit or if it's got a lot of complaints against them. You just never really know what you're looking for til you find it!
Good luck on your endeavor!

Not all jobs are advertised. Make a list of the places you want to work and go visit. Even if they are not hiring, leave a resume and express your interest in talking about future opportunities with the hiring authorities. Let's face it, if they aren't hiring what exactly is the personnel department doing that they can't give you a 10-15 minute interview??? You may end up in the right place at the right time.

Monster , Yahoo Hotjobs, Careerbuilder are some of the largest job boards, where you can apply for jobs and upload your resume. Since Craigslist, allows free job postings, many smaller companies post their vacancies on this online classifieds website. You can also search for jobs from multiple websites using aggregators like SimplyHired and Indeed. Referrals are also becoming a increasingly popular way to get hired.

Try CraigsList and your local temp agency. I temped for almost a year and found a job just a few months after graduating from college.

McDonald's, Burger King, KFC, Wendy's and such. With the Bush in office that's all that will be left for anyone before long. If you want to deal with anything that was American, now you have to go to China or someplace like that.
