Group homes aren't all that bad. At least he's not in jail, or in the house where he was having so much trouble. There must be more to the story, than you know, why would Mom and Dad put him in a home over a boxing match with his brother. The home will allow visits, you may have to take your parents with, ask. Tell your friend to behave and do EVERYTHING the home parents ask, and maybe his time will be cut short for good behavior.

Ready yourself. Be there for your friend when he needs you.
You should be relieved he's doing so much better now.
Be supportive. I'm sure he'll be touched by your concern.
Let him know that he's not worthless & useless.

Give him some time to gain back his confidence.
Give him time to be encouraged & motivated to carry on with his life. He'll consider schooling eventually. Do not force him to do anything, as he's very sensitive now.

You sound like you are trying to be a good friend to him. Can you write him or send a card. Knowing that you care will certainly help him thru this tough time. Do you know his parents? If so, tell them that you are a friend who would like to write to their son and see if they allow it. Good luck.

Trust that he will be in good hands with people that are qualified to help him with what ever is his problem as far as you stay focused on school and your life I am sure you will have some communication with him at some point.

This guy is Trouble......for heavens sakes.....stay away from him! Of course, it was not his fault.....it is never anyones fault!!! Or, lay it all out to your parents....and if they think it is a good idea to be with this creep then, by all means....go for it!
