sound like you have a lot of empathy for people. Good thing for a counselor to have. I believe that some of your control of emotions or lack of will be addressed in your training. So good luck in your career choice.

You have allot of empathy, empathy is a good thing to much can be bad... make a pact with yourself and pick a certain time when you are alone that allows you to feel emotional say 1 hour each day, cry your eyes out but STOP when the time is up... I too feel like you, it has helped me allow yourself to feel the emotion but turn it off at the end of the time you chose this will teach you to control it

I have the same problem, it's kind of weird. The only thing is, I will weep and cry over a movie, a commercial, or the reader's digest, but I can't cry over the heartache in my life. It's weird. As a matter of fact, I don't cry over anything personal. I used to, a long time ago, but now I feel dead inside. Except, of course, during a movie, commercial, etc.

You are not alone. I too am this way. My daughter broke up with her boyfriend of 2 years in June and I BAWLED my eyes out for the next 2 weeks for HIS broken heart!!! I think those of us that are this way are special. Feel good about being this way. It's proof you are a good and caring person in a world of monsters.

It is possible that others' pain triggers your own suppressed feelings.

Seeing a therapist can be very helpful to get to the root of these things, and process the associated emotions.

Peace and healing.

My hubby sits and watches tv and cries like that and he's 51 years old, so there's nothing wrong with you. Some people are more sensitive than others is all.
