First off, can you tell the size of it's tank, food your feeding it, it's age, where you got it...anything that could help.? There is a very common bone disease iguanas get from malnutrition. I heard there bones look a bit like rubber. Needs a reptile vet.
Put a humidifier in his cage if it is large enough. That may help with the breathing.

the bone disease is called metabolic bone disease mbd for short this can be reversed in some cases but it requires uvb lighting proper diet and enough room to excersize also the temps and humidity must be right

is he getting enough light/heat? do yuo have him on a good diet? is he about to shed? could be alot of reasons.....i dont know.....good luck

your vet is dumb! its metabolic bone disease give it sunlight and calcium asap. or it got bit by something.
