It depends on where you are, or were. The baby bells were already charging as much as $ .50, but the generic, independent pay phones were emerging with $.25 for a local calls. I think that the price has gone down since.

beleive it or not .30 cents reguardless if it was long distance it couldgo up from there I had a phone call go as high as $15 and I put put 60 quarters in the phone before I could call
