I used to love to watch the Bozo show. It used to come on every morning. The best part was a game called the Grand Prize Game where they had buckets lined up in front of a child who was picked out of the audience. The kid would start with the first bucket which was just right in front of him/her. Then there were about four buckets further and further away. He would throw a ping pong ball into the bucket and win cool prizes for each bucket he got the ball into. It was kind of funny looking back because they would pick the child based on his/her ticket number and when a very small child was picked I'd be disappointed because you knew he would be lucky to hit the second bucket.

The show also had cartoons, skits with Bozo and his friend Cookie, and a different entertainer each day - sometimes a magician, sometimes someone who twirled plates on sticks, etc. Sometimes Bozo would go on a tour of a factory or the post office or something.

Wow, what great memories!

"Bozo the Clown (also known simply as Bozo), is the name of a clown whose widespread franchising in early television made him the best-known clown character in the United States. Partly as a result, the word "bozo" has become synonymous with a foolish person. It also was a common name given to hobo or tramp clowns."

I first saw Bozo in the middle 60's in Benton Harbor, Michigan. He was on WGN TV from Chicago. I believe he was the original. There was another one on KARK TV out of Little Rock, Arkansas. It would seem that he is a franchise.
