The whole world hates the USA or at least has a dim view of the United States. Is this because of the warmongers?

We change our mind every four years, or if we get to keep our mind straight we keep a mind of anti-relationship, anti-trade, and try to bully everyone around with bombs.

The rest of the world doesn't hate the US anything like as much as the majority of the US public thinks they do. News networks are the primary source of information and since they're ratings driven they're very much in the fearmongering business - the reality, as those who actually travel outside of the US (and outside of the military) will almost universally tell you, is different and much more complex.

That said, Iraq hasn't helped the US image overseas. Post 911, and even post Afghanistan, the US had never been more popular, including in the middle east. 911 could have happened at any point over the last 40 years, the same small group of people had been trying the same kind of thing for decades, it just so happened that it was that particular day - it didn't represent the world turning against the US.

The US had more support round the world and were more highly regarded than ever before at that point, and were winning the battle against extremist idealogy simply by doing nothing as the rest of the world sympathized with the attack suffered. And Afghanistan was seen as fair, because it was a legitimate response to 911. Iraq wasn't seen as fair, since it had nothing to do with Al Qaeda or the 911 attacks, and US policy in Iraq screwed up all the good feeling toward the US, the US is now seen by many as a dangerous rogue state - and as a result there is now some truth in this idea the the US isn't well liked overseas (but still not anything like as much truth as most Americans seem to think).

why do people hate the US? easy, because they are so arrogant and think that they are the best. but as a matter of fact they are nothing close to the best. and the fact that they cant admit that they aren't the best just brings the arrogantness to another level. the american citizens keep thinking that their nation is the most free, the most rich and always right. americans don't understand what respect, toleration, and what co-existence means. The US believes in consensus and at times that starts wars and conflicts. The US believes that they are always right and their way of living is the best. maybe the american citizens are living in a world just like the one described in George Orwell's 1984. Have you guys not wondered or even thought about that you guys are being brainwashed by the government and controlled by them?

flaws about the US

1. capitalist - extreme capitalists, the US dont care about human suffering that is going on in the world and would exploit others so they can be rich.
2. aggressive foreign policies - NAFTA my butt!
3. the desire to become the leader of the world hence criticizing rising nations such as china and india and attempting to supress them.
4. right wingers - the justification for all the rest of what is wrong with the USA.

World hate towards America in some areas is understandable. The Iraqis, for example, wouldn't quite enjoy seeing alien Americans occupying their country and having free hand on the natural resources. (I say occupying, because invading then getting a ticket from the UN won't alleviate the crime)

The Europeans are not convinced that a cowboy-style war is what is needed, because they are starting to think that Americans are reliving a legacy of pre-WWII order in sorting things out among nations and dragging the power-craving Europeans to a war that is not theirs.

The USA is becoming hijacked by right-wingers (American Taliban version without a turban on their head) who have a dogmatic and blind agenda about world affairs and relations, they are rich, organized and wouldn't ask your opinion about anything. That usually happens when people get scared.

The United States has always been a target of other countries. I grew up in Europe and even then we would here "Yankee go home" . So this is nothing new just more media coverage. The bottom line is we are the worlds super power-who better to hate? Funny thing though they may hate us because of our world standing but most of them want to come here to visit , attend our colleges or live here..Besides who they gonna call .... GhostBusters or France!! I guess they hate to Love us!!!!!

US is hated so much because they're invovled in so many countries affairs and those countries, or at least their leaders, don't like it. It's also because we are one of the few countries willing to use military means to get a countries leadership to comply to the will of their people, or to prevent future attacks on our country or our allies'.

So yes, it is because of the warmongers (which is a belittling term), but don't forget that these countries hate us because of a long chain of events. Most countries did not decide to just hate us all of the sudden, it's because of all the foreign affair policies we've had over our short history.

It's sad that most countries hate us, but it is better they hate us then we compromise our standards and beliefs, which apply to all people in this world.

You are prior military. In case you don't know it, that makes you a warmonger. After all, that can be the only reason a person joins. You've said that yourself. It must be rough to hate yourself so very much that you feel the need to bring others down with you. Pity the fool!!

For your info, people only hate what they wish they had or could be. HHMMMM That goes back to you Erudite....why do YOU hate so much??

P.S. For all those that read this, I'm an Army wife and proud of what my hubby does. This is just to enlighten you about our friend Erudite. He's much like Kerry....he speaks from different sides of his mouth.

Our foreign policy is oppression, our "delegate" to the UN occasionally curses out leaders of other countries. We invaded a country that was no threat to us, and plunged it into civil war. Since WWII we have touted democracy as Islamic people have religion; accept it or die. We have no regard for others cultures and American people are totally ignorant to what is going on because of a media that supports the state. Because the French reserved the right to not go to war, we label them as cowards. Somehow taking up arms is heroic and laying them down is cowardly? We alienate everyone who doesn’t agree with us by saying in a southern accent "if you're not with us, you're with the terrorist (trrerrists)" we attack countries who we think may acquire WMDs, but do nothing but talk to North Korea, who has atomic weapons, and delivery systems. Showing the world that if you want to be safe from America, GET NUKES!! Every bomb we drop creates a thousand more extremists, and with all this Nuke proliferation, its become a reality that America or one of her allies could very well get a radioactive knock on the door.

whats not to like?

not to mention i live in japan now, and when i say i'm american I get a cold shoulder. when i was in iraq, children threw rocks at me. i can only assume that everything in between europe, iraq, and japan, that we arn't exactly popular.

Its because the US sticks its nosein other countries affairs and they force thir views and culture on other countries that dont want it. They support israel... only the US does.... a country that terrorizes other countries in the middeast. The US baits other countries and even its own citizens ( 9/11 ) into war.
Many reasons why they are hated

We are not. The news media portrays us in that light.

For the few countries that do hate us. We are free and a democracy which threatens the power of the governments that are not that way. The last thing they wan is their people to be free and have a choice who represents them in their government. This especially is a threat to countries that are under the rule of Islam. Our way of life threatens both their political and religious ideologies.
