Yeah it's so showy. And I hate buying a dude a present because the holiday is so blatantly made for women and marketed for women. It's stupid.

I hate the fact that it isn't even a holiday but the traffic is horrendous! Overpriced flowers and food that are mediocre. My brother's birthday is Valentine's and my Mom is a few days ahead. Their presents are always jacked up in prices. Marketing scam. Besides, men should be sweet and romantic all year round not just a day in a year.

It depends on the person I am with on that day. From myself to a steady girlfriend... It can be fun if you've been in a comfortable relationship for some time, but otherwise, it's often awkward and uneasy.
And, if you're single, of course, it pretty much sucks and you wish you could just skip the whole thing.

I don't hate it, but it now makes me sad. My late husband and I used it as an excuse to do very special things for and with each other. I remember all the lovely times and smile, but that smile is a mite rueful. Now it more just a day like any other day.

When I'm single- definitely! It's a stay-at-home eating Godiva chocolates and watching chick flicks day...

I used to love it - it was mine and my husband's wedding anniversary, so we always had a double reason to celebrate. Since he died three years ago, it's become horrific - as have all holidays.

I stand and applaud! I don't need society to validate my existence and throw a guilt trip on my bf.
