Usually if it is a bus sign, city ordinances prohibit standing as well.

Standing is defined as being in the driver's seat of a stationary vehicle that is running, regardless of whether the breaks or the parking gear are used to hold it in place.

Some places specifically say "No Parking or Standing at Any Time" and others just imply it depending on your city or county.

If you get a ticket for standing as a moving violation, fight it in court. Unless the city or county notified you upon your move that it was illegal to stand in a "No Parking" zone, you can honestly say you didn't know the ordinance existed and probably get it dismissed.

Generally a No Stopping means your car must not be stationary at that area for longer than 5 seconds (or 10, but I'm not sure), whereas a No Standing sign means your car cannot be stationary at that area at any given time (unless otherwise given time frame or if you are the driver and you died. then it is acceptable to park your car at a No Standing area, as it is highly improbable that you will stand again.)

not as far as I know. There's a different sign for no stopping(looks like a stop sign with a slash if I'm remembering right)

I would take it to mean "no standing" personally, meaning you can't put your car in the spot and stay there, even if you're in the car.
