when you find or catch yourself being obsessive or can't seem to stop thinking about things stop and ask yourself if it really is worth all the time fretting about. we as humans are emotional creatures and we sometimes allow ourselves to make rash and illogical thoughts based on emotions. think about WHY you are upset instead of what is upsetting you then you can decide if what is upsetting you is a valid or illogical... people get upset not from the situation but how they perceive it

It would help to know what type situations you are talking about. If they are things that interfere with your day to day living, you might need to consult a physician. If they are just things that bother you and you find yourself thinking about them constantly,it might be a sign that you need to take care of the problem.

write down the things that bother you. describe them in detail. don't just make a list. read over what you wrote a couple of times. then say or think, "this is on paper now and no longer rolling around in my head. i have let it go" then rip the paper to shreds or burn it.

Solve the problem or at least make sure you do everything in your power to. Once you KNOW you've done ALL you ABSOLUTELY can...you shouldnt obsess over it anymore.

You may be obsessive-compulsive. If it is really affecting your quality of life, you may want to speak with your doctor about prescribing an antidepressant as a trial, to see if it makes a difference.
