The smell when people smoke puts other people off why?

It's an irritant, though really I think some people just use it as an excuse to go "off" on other people.

I've seen people go and sit in a smoking section and then ***** about the smokers. How retarded is that?

I had another woman try to "lecture" me one time on smoking at a bar. I told her to **** off. It's was a bar, and not one of those yuppy bars either, but one of those REAL bars, and she was bitching at me for smoking when 3/4 of the people in there had a cigarette or a cigar lit up. hehe.

Generally though if you're courteous about it. Don't smoke where you're not supposed to, etc. It shouldn't be an issue. If someone wants to make it an issue, that's their problem as far as I'm concerned.

If you don't want to be around smoke, then don't sit in the smoking section. Don't go to a bar that allows smoking, etc. Don't stand outside next to someone who is smoking and then expect THEM to bow to YOUR needs.

Personally I love the smell of a good cigar or a pipe. I always walk a little slower as I pass by a cigar/pipe shop. MmMmMm. I'm not a fan of cigarette smoke, but I don't make an issue of it.

For me it's not the smell. I was a smoker for over 25 years. What puts me off is the smoke. My chest gets tight and I can't breathe. Is that a good enough reason not to make me share?

Most non-smokers or former smokers can't stand the smell, including myself (a non-smoker). I think it's disgusting and smokers should smoke only with other smokers or they should smoke away from the non-smokers entirely. Not to mention the second hand smoke can contribute to health problems.

Smokers are also getting more and more rude and selfish about smoking. No one asks "Do you mind if I smoke?" anymore.

Besides the overall medical reasons let's just go with the smell.
Smokers don't understand the human nose can get used to anything. If you lived in a trash can filled with vomit, the smell would bother you for awhile but you would get used to it. Kinda like people with cats that spray in the house... ewwww
For non smokers the smell is stale, gross, and overbearing and we don't get used to it and shouldnt be expected too.

I work at an upper management level, I am a non smoker, My friends are not!!! on several occasions I have had to explain the smell on my clothes to the top guns who have a strict no smoking policy. I cannot afford, for my job sake to hang at break with my smoking friends.
Support my kids...support my smoking friends...kids....friends...almost, unless I am really mad, A NO BRAIN-ER!

I'm not bothered by the actual smell myself, I am severely allergic to the effects of it. My nasal passages, sinuses, and throat swell up despite being on allergy medicine. I don't care if people want to smoke, I just wish they'd give some of us a little consideration.

Im not a smoker but alot of cigrettes have gross smells, some cigars/cigarettes smell good just depends on the product, but some people are just irritating, they are going to complain you are invading there right to breathe clean air.

Because it's often time the smoke that nonsmokers cannot stand. It's hard for us to breathe it in.
Now as for the smell, like on your clothes or hair, I think it isn't pleasant. It truly can be compared to an ASHTRAY.You smokers are so use to it that you don't know the difference.

Well, I hate the smell of cigerette smoke...its disgusting..Plus, second hand smoke is more dangerous than smoking itself...Try not to smoke in front of other people..

I don't like the smelllllll

It really sticks, too. My hair smell like smoke, my sweater smells like smoke if I spend some time around a person smoking a sigarette. I applied all this nice parfume, and insead I smell like smoke? No thanks.
