i had asked this quetstion .......

hey my volume on my computer it won't work i tried getting new speakers no change what should i do ?

you're going to want to try what will cost the least first...
unfortunately it sounds like a soundcard issue.
so... try to go online and re-download the drivers for your soundcard... install them... and that may take care of things.
if that doesn't work...
get a q-tip and put some rubbing alcohol on it and try to clean the connectors... it may just be a loose connection.
if that doesn't work...
you may need to look at getting a new soundcard.
let's hope that isn't the case

this was the best answer but i don'y know what a soundcard is and how do you get one ???

You almost certainly have a soundcard, unless you have a really old or super cheap computer. Your soundcard is where your speaker(s) are plugged in on the back of the computer. If you open your computer case you will see a circuit board thingy where the speakers plug in. That's the card. It's in a slot called a "pci slot" on your motherboard. If you need to replace this, go to Best buy or CompUsa and ask for a Soundblaster card. That's the best and most popular brand. Then follow the instructions with the card very carefully for the installation. Good luck.

A soundcard is an add-in PCI card that goes into a slot on your computer. It provides the sound when connected to external speakers for your computer. You can pick one up at Best Buy, Circuit City, Walmart or get one at newegg.com

Sounds like you're new to computers. Better have a friend help you install the card.
