3-D glasses are basically an illusion taking advantage of binocular vision.

What is does is gets one eye to see one thing and the other to see another, making it seem to pop out.

"The principle involves taking two images simultaneously, with two cameras positioned side by side, generally facing each other and filming at a 90 degree angle via mirrors, in perfect synchronization and with identical technical characteristics. When viewed in such a way that each eye sees its photographed counterpart, the viewer's visual cortex will interpret the pair of images as a single three-dimensional image. See stereoscopy for a more detailed description."

When you can only see one of the camera angles you only see a 2-D film

If ignorance is bliss, I can't tell who is happier, you or the two people who have posted answers so far.

Depth is a creation of the brain from the fact thatthe eyes are separated by a small distance. That difference allows the brain to process depth.

3D glasses create an artificial image separation that the brain sees as the same kind of input and "creates" depth where none exists.

With only one eye, there is no second, separate signal for the brain to use.

3 d effect relies on the brain processing two slightly different images. Movies were shown using two projectors. Blurry without those glasses BUT most people loved it(but hated the headaches)!

One eyed persons have to use different ways to gauge depth perception(it's a bother- hazardous in some cases) as well.

does he have 2 pupils?
i doubt it.
its an illusion. you need to see the image with both the blue and the red filtered out at the same time but through seperate eyes. you should ask your 'special' teacher for a more thourough explination.
I doubt you are above 13. my 12 year old brother understands it and he's an f-ing moron.

Having sight in two eyes is what creates a sense of depth perception. Persons with vision in one eye have little or no depth perception.

because it's a trick with your eyes, so you need two of them to work

The reason is simply because they'd only be able to see one color. Then it wouldn't be 3D.
