My instructions are, "Write a paper on the harships of 'freedmen' from the period of Reconstruction to the mid 20th century, focusing on American society and its problems."
First, I'd like to know what "freedmen" are (I think they are the freed slaves but I'm not sure) and what the "Reconstruction is"
Can you tell me some hardships they faced?
Also for a best answer please suggest any clever names for the paper relating to the subject

Thank you very much

Freedman are freed slaves and Reconstruction was the period (1865-1877) during which the states that had seceded to the Confederacy were controlled by the federal government before being readmitted to the Union. Basicly Confederate states being re admitted to the Union. There are three types of Reconstruction they are discussed in the link below as well as some of the hardships they faced. As for names for your paper maybe Through The Hardships: Freedman. Just a sugestion.

The freedmen are the african americans and whoever else was held in slavery. The reconstruction is kind of like a reformation, basically a way your society can make themselves better. Some of the hardships they faced was a loss of heritage. As you may know when the African slaves were taken from there home they were mixed up no one spoke the same language. Then they didn't speak the same language so a whole civilization, history, and legacy was lossed. As you may also know they weren't allowed to have an education so people used that against them and cheated them out there money. And that whole thing about three acres and a mule is so not true otherwise black people would own America. They also had trouble with the KKK, the KKK kept fear in African American hearts. Also there was still racism in America even after slavery ended. The African Americans had no rights, education, and worst of all had no place to stay. So they turned to sharing land with white people and farm for them and produce enough food for the white people to sell in order to stay. Then we had to deal with minimum wage payments once america modernized, second hand education, and the fight for our rights. Finally we get those rights but we are still fighting for these rights today. I really think black peoples votes don't count still and think we don't actually vote for who we actually want because if you look at it the people in the republican and democratic group vote for who they want to be president then we vote for who they want. Other hardships we face is black on black crime. Because of the early slavery days and tv. White people made it seem that light complected ppl seems as though they were better so the darker slaves didn't like that and carried there hatred down through there kids. Thats how the perm came into play it was invented because she wanted to get her hair as straight as possible just like white ppl (watch the movie hotel rhwanda). So we have a lot of hardships in the world. If you know this yes the Africans were in slavery in Africa too. but there's was different its was only temperary and if the african parents were slaves and they had a child there child wasn't a slave. So you can imagine that the slaves were pretty mad. Why didn't the slaves rebell? maybe because if they did someting bad can happen to there family and to them, then they would be at a slight disadvantage because they don't know the language of americans and they all really didn't get along because of tribal differences. The hardships of the African Americans is hard and long lasting we still have hardships today. May I also suggest you talk to a white person a black person that is 60+ so you can get both sides of the story. A good title could be 20th century "slaves".

The freedmen are the slaves, but there were problems that led to restruction of things such as the American education system (blacks were not allowed in public schools for a long time even after the Civil War...Look up Ruby Bridges, the first colored girl to go to a public school in I believe...Alabama?)

There were also other things such as blacks had to sit in the back of the bus if a white wanted their seat near the front front...(Rosa Parks had a big incident on this, look her up.)

Also one other thing that pops into mind was diners were separated into a "colored/black" side and a "whites only" side...Bathrooms were the same way, and some diners even had no blacks allowed, period. Forgot who ti was who stood up and the police were called and there was a big scene about it, someone else will have to bring that name up.

i really have self assurance that the reaction you examine grow to be someone opinion, and by no skill the opinion of all black human beings. i'm also no longer saying that black human beings dont face hardships to on the prompt. lots of the crap that African human beings confronted many years in the past nevertheless is going on on the prompt have self assurance it or no longer...yet i imagine it truly is as a lot because the man to conquer that when you consider that black human beings do have many opportunities that were no longer there 50 years in the past. it is now problematical, and that i applaud those who do conquer those stupid stereotypes. i imagine reviews like that come from the persons existence reviews and may be taken as merely that, an opinion. ;-)

The title can be "FREEDOM WAS NOT ENOUGH".
The only hardships they have faced they have bought among themselves thinking the world still owes them something.
