sometimes i wear running/walking shoes without socks and it feels soooo good. other times it doesnt feel good and im glad i have a sock. but i only have one pair of shoes and im wondering if wearing without socks is a bad idea? does anyone else wear them without socks and why? also, i dropped my shoes in the creek and sometimes they are soaked from wet grass. being barefoot in my shoe could create problems and there could be germs. would you suggest lysol, or.. what other form of cheap simple stuff would u use inside your shoe to temporarily kill germs, or do u think its not necessary - maybe a washer machine wash now n then?

First of all, I suggest buying more pairs of socks. Having just 1, just doesnt cut it.
Second, wearing runners without socks in them is highly unadvisable. Not only could they harbor germs, but it will quickly wear out the sole of the shoes, with all of the sweat that you lose through your feet. Socks absorb the sweat and add extra cushion to the sole of the shoe, causing extra comfort.
If you prefer to live life without socks, try to wear sandals as often as possible.
If you do need to wash your shoes, then in the washing machine is the easiest. They can be left to airdry, or be thrown in the dryer..

I've put my running/walking shoes in the washer and dryer a few times. If there are insoles, you should remove them first and wash them separately. You can put them in the dryer with towels and then put them in the sun if they didn't totally dry. Don't wear them wet, they'll just get smelly and wet shoes rubbing on your heal may cause a blister.

I also have worn them both with and without socks. If you have a choice, you should wear socks though, without socks you can develop blisters, callouses and your shoes will get stinky faster - your socks absorb the sweat from your feet.

Experts say we should have at least two pairs and switch them every day so they air out and bacteria doesn't grow in them.

Use Odor Eaters or another brand of foot powder. Make sure you have good insoles in the shoes also. You shouldn't have any real problems walking sockless though except for an occasional blister/caliss if you walk a lot.
