My phone has just started to do the same thing. It is a Motorola Razor and it had been trouble-free since I bought it last October. Now, the keypad is dead and although I can answer incoming calls and I can also turn it on and turn it off, all other keypad functions are dead.
My service provider here in Canada has offered to send it back to Motorola for me to have it repaired as Motorola warrants it for one year. The only hassle is that I have to pay for a loaner-phone in the mean time which is a big heavy brick-of-a-thing.
It sounds like there is a problem with Motorola's Razor. The last thing I did with my phone was to use it as an alarm to wake me last Saturday morning.

the razr keypad works on touch sensitivity which has been known to go out at times. at this point you have two possibly 3 options. If you bought it within thirty days you can exchange it where you bought it. If past thirty days, check and see if you have the wireless insurance, if not call and get that put on and if you can wait 1 week for it to take into effect cal and have it replaced that way. if that fails call motorola and hope that you had the 1 year warranty on it. if nothing that i said fits you then i hate to say that your up Sh*t creek without a paddle

did you break it or accidently drop it? and also, did you get insurance for the phone in case something will go bad? take it back to the store and make sure you read the warranty information (if any) and see if it is under warranty and you should get another phone.
in the future, make sure you pay the extra few dollars to get insurance if you haven't gotten it already, and stay away from the Razr phones. they may look cool and all, but they are not worth the money people spend to have a "cool" phone
