8^(1/3) is the same as the cube root of 8....

remember 8^(a/b) = the b-root of 8^a

so
(3)√8 = (3)√2x2x2

so the answer is 2 because u have 3 2's inside the root, hence being a cube root (3) you need 3 of the same to take it outside of the root...since 8 is 2x2x2 then 2 is the answer

When you have a fractional exponent,
a^(m/n)= the n rt of(a^m)
So, 8^(1/3)= The 3rd rt of (8^1)
