Sorry if any one thought I would ever pierce anyones ears. I wouldn't. But what age is the right age to do so? I think it should be a womans part of passage to adulthood.

I think the girl needs to be old enough to take care of them. Plus, I've seen many little girls get their earrings ripped out in PE Class and on the playground and often had their ear lobe completely torn. My 6 year old has already asked and I told her we'd talk about it when she is in Jr. High or High School.

This is a culturally loaded question, as in some countries, little girls get their ears pierced when they are ONE WEEK old. That seems to be asking for trouble, but it is nonetheless common. Many girls like to get their ears pierced when they reach puberty. Others when they are adult. There are just so many factors involved, it's difficult to pinpoint any single age as more appropriate than others.
But how do you feel about having nostrils, chins, eyebrows and tongues pierced? Is that a rite of passage or is in an in-your-face kind of statement?

I am 11 years old and I got mine peirced when I was a couple months old only! I am American,Puerto Rican, and other european stuff to,so that Hispanic Woman had a point there! other wise any age and every age is great! And remember,if you do at when they are a few months old,the wont even know what pain is so I would say you should do it then so it wouldn't really hurt them, otherwise the older, the more they will remember the painful moment! But its your chose! when i have kids,it will be when they are about 1 1/2 to 3 months old!!!

I was not even 1 year old when I got mine pierced. Now I have a daughter and will do it whenever she asks. She doesn't want to anytime soon she says. I think either before age 1 but after that it has to be at the kid's request.

And when do the neck stretching rings go on? That is a rite of passage too.

Who says a girl has to have her ears pierced in the first place? Let her decide if she wants them and when she is 18 and making her own living she can get them herself.

i see babies that are just a few months old with their ears pierced. i think around middle school they should get their ears pierced and can move out of the house before anything else is pierced.
