I'm a teacher, and I think it is never OK. If you want respect from students toward you and each other, you must model the same toward them.

The NO's have it. It is never okay for a teacher to disrespect a student. Okay fair enough, attitudes clash from time to time but the teacher is in a position of authority and that authority should never be used to down a student no matter the situation.

No.
Most schools, school boards and professional associations in Canada, the United States, England, Australia, etc., frown on this sort of activity. Besides, a teacher is supposed to be a role model for the students -- a lack of respect undermines this.
And, by the way, "disrespect" is more properly used as a noun than a transitive verb. :-)

no. if you are legitematley getting disrespected or picked on, you should speak up. i had a couple of teachers in high school that singled me out, and 12 years later, i still kick myself for not saying something.

If it happened only once then the teacher may have been, in an odd way, trying to motivate you to do better in the class or be more active. If it happens consistently though you should talk to your guidance counselor about it.
