Start reading something intellectual (read: wordy and boring) like the NY Times to get your mind back in shape, start adjusting your body to getting little sleep, and make sure you make a schedule with tons of time for studying and for fun. My dad, a dean of students, gave me this advice: "treat school like a job. Spend 40 hours a week in class or studying and that leaves you with 15 hours a week to work, 45 hours a week to sleep, and 68 hours to have fun." I made a schedule and followed his plan (which also included not drinking for the first 6 weeks because that is when upperclassmen like to prey on freshman and people are wild and stupid . Lots of babies are created and your GPA tends to be much worse. After 6 weeks party like a rock star and you'll be fine because you know how to schedule your time). I also listened to him when he told me to say hi to everyone and really get to know my professors. His advice worked-- (who would've thought dad knew what he was talking about). I had great friends, a super-high GPA that allowed me to get into great programs, a great job, and a ton of fun.

Good luck!

First of all, get your mind ready to really get focused. You are about to face many things, cuz you are not a KID anymore, you will be an adult. Not to mention, so many temptations...partying, drinking, relationships, late night house "sets"(another word for parties, but just a small social gathering of some pretty cool folks)....but it's also a time to reflect on your future. What do you want to be in 5 years, 10? Pick your major and stick to it. Be realistic with yourself and be firm in what you wanna do. Do major in something that your mom or dad wants, do what YOU want to. Prepare for some crazy things, so enjoy the ride...but strive for graduation. That's your ticket to more success!! Best wishes
