I have seen many post and oppinions from people who do not think it is the government's job to provide education, but I haven't really heard solutions. So my question is what is the alternative solution to our educational needs? Are alternatives feasable to give a chance for education to all in our country?

Yes, take away the governements monopoly of the school system. were are like #25 in the world when it comes to education.

Vouchers to private schools would also work.

Now it's not the government's job to provide a public education. Is that because they're doing such a p*ss poor job of it?

Alternative solution.....spend some of our money in this country.

The only viable alternative would be if there were private schools, run efficiently and locally, that people could send their children to.

But that would also require the government to fully refund (or not take in the first place) the tax money that currently gets paid for each school student.

the gov't does not pay for education. our taxes do, so the people that work and have taxes taken out of their paychecks pay for the public school education system.

I am for public education and private education. your choice.

get this, my step-children go to one of the most expensive private schools in the state. my grown daughter stopped by and saw the text books just purchased for the upcoming school year for the kids. She commented that she used the same text books over 6 years ago while attending public schools.
