Purple plum trees leaves often are greenish when they're new... especially ones on the bottom. They normally turn redder after some time in the sun.

If the new leaves are wilting all over, there are three possiblities.
1: Too dry. Try watering every 2-3 days instead.
2: Too hot. Try adding a little midday shade by sticking something just south of them.
3: Trunk problem. Sometimes the trunks will split and peel. It'll be hollow and cracked in places, or will fall off and show bare wood. Try shading the trunk, as this seems to help.

If the new leaves are going dry in particular spots (speckled pattern,) or only in some areas of the tree, or are curling up, there are three likely problems:
1: water damage: Don't water the leaves during mid day. The sun heats the water, and bakes spots out of the leaves.
2: Fungus: fungus or molds may be attacking them, especially if you water at night. Switch to watering in the morning. Adjust sprinklers so they don't hit the leaves. Chemical sprays can help.
3: bugs: There will be holes in the leaves.. or bark. You best bet is a pesticide of some kind.

Get a five gallon bucket, and drill just one tiny hole in the bottom of it. Make sure the hole is tiny! Bury the bucket about three inches into the ground, roughly two feet away from the tree. Next, put some rocks in the bottom of the bucket, and fill to the top with water and put a lid on it if you can. The bucket will slowly seep water into the ground and keep the root system moist.
