First you need to have an idea of what you want to do. You can get some ideas here. www.infoworthsharing.com Any good business will take lots of research and lots of work to be successful.
If your decision is to start and online business, just know it won't be a cake walk. But if you learn and stick to it, in time you can start earning.
Get on some mailing lists and learn what you can. Many have great advise and things to help you get started.

The best overall business to start online is Digital Information Products, especially if you are inexperienced. The cost of goods sold is almost nothing so the risk is too.
If you think not much money can be made, it's a Multi-Billion dollar business and getting bigger all the time.

However....if you're looking for something else.....just do research...start with Google or Ask Jeeves and go from there with your question. There's all kinds of opportunities out there. But DO be careful as some are scams! Check the companies out, see what they offer, check with the BBB. You never know what you're going to find til you find it!
