because one thousand songs are more beneficial than 4gb.. The predicted one thousand songs has a large number of contributing factors.. The Nano also would not enable an entire 4gb you lose some area for quite some causes..

depends on how many you put in it. :) At an average of around 4MB a song, you could squeeze in about a thousand MP3's/AAC's in there. Apple generally touts the 4GB iPod nano as having room for 1000 songs (see link below). But longer songs and files with higher bitrates will take up more room.

A good rule of thumb is 250 songs per 1GB but it depends on the file size. I just put 279 on my little brothers 1 GB nano.
