They are both good, depending on how this or that website was designed.
Just have both of them installed on your computer like I do and then use them both and then draw your own conclusions which will come from your own experience. With this in mind I have about 10 browsers installed, but then again my quest for browser knowledge is very big.
To get Firefox:

Internet Explorer. Many people will say that Firefox is more secure but actually there have been many more security issues with Firefox than IE in the last year. Internet Explore may come from the 'Evil Creator' which is Microsoft, but it comes from a very mature code base and most websites are designed to work with IE rather than other browsers. Firefox is nicely written and a great project, but it is a few years behind IE in terms of maturity.

He's my "3" cents on this... :)
I downloaded Firefox just a month ago finally and my initial reaction was what's all the hype... they're overwhelmingly similar. Then I decided to give it a fair chance using it everyday and I downloaded a few 'extentions' (called add-ons in IE). Now, I'm sold, I can block what I wanna block, yahoo recently got on the wagon, so I was able to download the Y! toolbar. I can customize how it operates, how it looks. I have the NoScript extentiontion also, so only the sites I approve run scripts. I love tabbing now, although Y! made that available with their toolbar on IE awhile ago, but if you like options and customization, you'll probably appreciate it. Also, I have not had a crash since I switched and many sites load faster. Finally, I think with NoScript and you're 3rd party cookies disabled, you have a fully secure system!

The fact is that security is a process not a piece of software and
regardless of the browser you use it will have vulnerabilities and require patches. What's secure today will likely have a critical vulnerability in the near future. Find a well support browser YOU like, learn it's security features and use them and make sure you keep it up to date.
I Use Fast Browser, and Avant Most of the time, and when I need a little backup, I call on Firefox.... IE.... Long Gone, No more IE.....

I'd have to say foxfire. It helps with virus's and has great things that you can get with it. I have never had a problem, and would recommend it to anyone. It makes surfing the web much faster, safer, and comes with the google tool bar search. You can also get plug-ins for it to make downloading faster, lets you know when downloading is done. If a file is safe, and will block up pop ups, advertisement, and other misc. things while you surf. You are able to design it how you want, with very simple icons(which are bigger, and easier to read). Over all I would not go back to foxfire, nor would anyone I know who switched

Opera is superior :)
I use it at work, home and on my mobile phone and these are the main reasons:
- speed (extremely quick and stable)
- light (small program)
- free (no skin off your nose)
- mouse gestures (can't live without this)
- skins (make it look pretty)
- pop-up blocker
- form auto-completion
- passes acid2 test
- works on a number of platforms
- 25 languages
- honoring the W3C web standards
- the best out of the box browser!
(other goodies: RSS reader, Bit Torrent client, Email Suite, Magic Wand can remember passwords, Widgets)

Firefox.
IE allows too many pop-ups (even with the blocker on).
I like the tabbing options on Firefox
