Jesus drank lots of wine, so why do some churches oppose it? Doesn't make much sense, but then religions never do.

Alcohol is not inherently evil; after all, Jesus turned water into wine. The overindulgence in it (drunkenness) is.
It's like when people blame religion for all wars on the planet. It's not the fault of religion; it's the fault of the overzealous people who have followed different religions through the years. If everyone would just believe what they want to believe and leave everyone else the hell alone, the world would be a much better place.

Alcohol is not banned by the scriptures. You need to start reading more before you make up your questions.
In fact, the bible talks about the wine that makes the heart rejoice. It's only DRUNKENNESS the bible condemns.
Just like any other excess, the bible shows the right way to handle alcohol.
By the way, I'm drinking a bottle of Updaug right now. Mmm Mmm Good.

Alcohol is allowed.
Jesus turned water into wine.
Alcoholism, though, is sinful.
So is self debauchery through alcohol.
Biblically speaking, alcohol was one of the few things people could drink back then. Water wasn't always clean, and people couldn't really juice things super easy. Milk was available only when the cow was pregnant soo...
It was sometimes the only thing to drink.
It has a history. It was also used as an antibiotic for wounds, and a pain killer for surgeries.

What make you think that Christians are not allowed to drink
alcohol ??
Jesus , his disciples and everyone else drank wine..
There are some Christian sects ( such as Baptists ) that
do not drink alcohol but it is certainly not even frowned upon
by the bible...

An ocasional drink is not a sin.. It can be a pleasurable experience. But the Bible also teaches us to practice self-control, to discipline our bodies, to put love first and seek those things that have heavenly reward.
So an ocasional drink is okay, but too much is not. It's like food. Too much is harmful to you... Sex is good too, but it too much be practiced with discipline and self-control.

Well, certain denominations of Christianity do not drink or even dance. However, the rest do not oppose drinking.
