Actually, I disagree.
I think anyone should have whatever beliefs they want. If someone believes that it is wrong for two men or two woman to be together, then that's up to them. What turns someone into a bigot is when they try to force those beliefs on other people, or become prejudiced against someone because of it.
You can disagree with a part of who someone is, without acting on that. It's the actions that make someone a bigot, not what they believe.
For instance, in terms of gay marriage, I don't think a church should be forced to allow gay people to get married, but I think the church is bigoted if they try to force their beliefs on marriage onto the rest of society. If a gay couple wish to get married through the state, the church should have no say.
In response to RatDogRulesTheWorld,
The difference between bigotry towards gay people, and the supposed 'bigotry' proclaimed by child molesters is that they are completely different things. Two consenting adult gay people having sex with each other hurts no one. They are perfectly capable of making their own decisions, and dealing with the consequences of those decisions.
Child molesters, on the other hand, are hurting the children, which is COMPLETELY unacceptable. Children are not capable of knowing the consequences of sexual contact. And even if they were capable of making that decision, most child molesters are not going to "ask" the childs permission.

Funny, child molestors use the same argument. I think it is an abominable sin. Says something in the Bible about how in the last days good would be considered bad and bad would be considered good. This is a wonderful example of that. God Bless.
Response to Shaun- All true my friend, all true. All I said was they use the same argument. My point being that their (the molestors') argument would be as invalid as this persons argument. As you said, we all need to be allowed to believe as we will. A person would only be a bigot if they have hateful feelings towards another simply for being homosexual. I don't hate the person, I hate the sin. It is sick in my eyes, always will be. On the other hand, many of the actual people are extremely nice. I have no problem with them from that point of view. So no, I'm no bigot.
I hate prostitution also, does that mean I'm a bigot towards them? Even if they are both consenting adults? Of course not...just common sense. God Bless.

Depends on what you mean by "wrong". If it's based on religious beliefs, you need to accept that not everyone shares those beliefs. If it's based on something else, then that means that you've examined whatever evidence you're looking at, and decided that it is wrong FOR YOU. Where no one is being harmed, it's none of your business what other people do. I happen to think that smoking is a very bad thing for me; I don't spend all my days advocating for the illegalization of cigarettes, nor do I refuse to socialize or even befriend smokers.

I have friends who are gay, but I think same gender sex is wrong.
I have friends who are alcoholics, but I think that alcoholism is wrong.
I have friends who are Muslims, but I think Islam is wrong.
I have friends who are Democrats, but I think Democrats are wrong.
Just because you have opinions doesn't mean that you're a bigot. We can still get along. Everyone has principles and values they live by, otherwise we would believe in everything, and wouldn't believe in anything all at the same time...

oh, the old child molester example again. We do not go after childre. Straight men do. (97% of the time).
people use that DAMNED book, the bible, for justification or condemnation of everything under thesun. Give it a rest. There are are homesexual mammals, why shouldn't there be homosexual humans? If you religious people want to use the bible for your argument..... you think your god is all powerful, so perfect? He made hiumans in his own image.....Then he didn't make any mistakes-- so gay people aren't mistakes.
I am rolling on the floor.

That's a rude statement. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and their own thought processes. It is their subsequent BEHAVIOR, based upon these thoughts, that determines whether or not they are a "bigot".
Somebody could tolerate and love you as a friend, but not necessarily agree with your lifestyle. So what? Are you going to HATE this person because you can't "change" the way they feel? We have the Christian church doing that for us already, thank you.

Ah, I think there is room for people to disagree. I worry about the ones who express hatred, or condemn us to hell, or use the Bible against us, when they know that not everything in the Bible, even in the same passages they quote, are relevant today.
