Neil Armstrong from the USA was the first to step onto the moon in July 1969 followed by Buzz Aldrin. Michael Collins, the third man on that Apollo mission, stayed in the Apollo orbiting the moon while the other two landed in the "Eagle".

Russian probe Luna2 is the first man made object to reach the moon, on September 14 1959. It was a deliberate crash.

If I am not mistaken, US probe Surveyor 1 was the first to land on the moon (as opposed to crash) on May 30 1966.

In December 1968, the crew of Apollo 8 went to the moon, but just overflew it before returning. So they went there, technically, as your question is not specific about getting or landing there.
Apollo crew was Frank Borman, James Lovell and William Anders.

First human soft landind was done by the 'Eagle' LEM of mission Apollo 11 on July 20 1969. Neil Armstrong and Edwin Aldrin (as his legal name was back then, he had it officially changed to Buzz later, as he told us when he came for a conference 10 years ago -- if you EVER happen to heard of Dr Aldrin coming to your town for a conference, DO NOT MISS IT) were on board, and Neil Armstrong, after jumping up a couple of times from the landing pad to get a feeling of the lower gravity, put one heavy booted foot on it, in front of millions of live viewers worls wide. I was 12 at that time, and I will never forget that moment. It was TRULY out of this world, as we were witnessing history in the making.

Visitors in what earthlings call 'UFOs' first landed on the moon many ages ago. Apollo 12 photographed some evidence of a landing but those photos are now classified secret. Kind of makes the hair on your neck stand out.
