My uncle and I went out to Indiana and we both split all of the costs. im 25 and he's about 45 years old. We stayed at my great aunt and uncle's home. The 1st night when we were out there he decided to borrow my car to go to a friends house. It was 8pm, and he said that he would be back in 2 hours or so. He did not come back until 1230am. During the time he was gone, my great aunt was setting up beds and one was a futon. She asked me if I was taller then my uncle and I was taller so she said to take the bed while uncle mike takes the futon. I asked her if she thought if my uncle was ok with it and she said that it would be fine. When he got home at 1230am, he was pissed. He said that I disrespected him by taking the good bed. Do you think I disrespected him by doing that, or do you think what I did was ok? I did not know what category to put this in, sorry.

Goodness! What a jerk!

1) YOU didn't take the car out and didn't come home when you said you would.

2) He's not exactly OLD. He's 45. I'm sure he's slept on many futons in his life.

Don't worry about it. You're fine. You did the right.

I don't think you did anything wrong. Your great-aunt asked you a question and based on your answer, she decided which bed would be best for you. If your uncle has a problem with that, he should take it up with her.
Personally, I think he's being childish.

Well, I think he's blowing this out of proportion. Especially considering that he took YOUR car. Don't you think he was disrespecting you by taking your car on a joy - ride until 12:30 in the morning? Hmmm? Hmmm?

Yeah, it's all a load of bull. Don't toss and turn over it too much, he's just being weird.

You did not do anything wrong because your aunt asked you a simple question about you height and his and if your taller then he is why not.. Did your uncle forget that he took your car? That is the lease that he can do...

Do not feel bad, you did not do nothing wrong at all...

In exchange for your car, he could have the decency to act his age and give up the bigger bed. He disrespected you first by assuming it was OK to take the car out and stranding you somewhere you may or may not have been 100% comfortable.

Sounds to me like your unlce is being a selfish bastard (no offense or anything). Did you not let him borrow YOUR car? I think that entitles you to the good bed, at least for that particular night. It doesn't matter who's older, younger, has more hair, or whatever. A favor for a favor is how it goes.

he borrowed your car to go out then came home and got upset with you because you took the bed? why are you feeling bad it wasn't your fault, all that is clearly understood if your uncle will just listen to reason.

I think what you did was the right thing. Maybe if he would of gotten back when he said he would he could of chosen the bed. Don't worry about it.
