I have 3 month old twins, I both breastfeed and bottlefeed, for bottles I use the playtex drop-ins with the Natura-Latch nipples (silicone) I can't always hold them both when they are feeding so I find that sometimes I have to prop one (no preaching please) everytime I do this they get soaked with milk, like really wet to the point that I have to bathe them. I've used the bottles before with other babies and NEVER had this problem, I'm curious if anyone else has.. I tried switching bottles and they wouldn't take them, I tried adding cereal to thicken it but then it clogs the nipples.. anyone add cereal with this nipple/bottle.. how much did you use?

When you add the cereal you need to poke an extra hole in the nipple so that it can get out. But this sounds like there is to much coming out of the nipple and that is why it is leaking. Try using a smaller pillow or just wait until the one is done to feed the other and then rotate them for the next feeding, that way they are still eating at the same time and now you don't have to worry about their clothes getting wet.

Are you using the same brand bottles and teats? I had leaking bottle problems too and found that i wasnt pulling the teat (nipples) through properly and other times i didn't tighten the lid enough. Dont add cereal to stop leaking , only if you think they are ready for the cereal (ie to help them sleep through the night).

If that fails, it could be a bad brand and you may have to change. The twins will adjust to another brand, but not easily. Good luck! And congrats on your twins. I have had to prop a bottle up at times just for my one baby when i've just had to get things done. There is nothing wrong with it occasionally. They are getting food in their tummies faster than crying in starvtion. I'm sure they prefer that to waiting.

Don't add cereal to the bottles. That with propping makes it a big choking hazard.

I'd guess the bottles are propped at too high of an angle and that's why they're leaking. It happened with my girls when they would take bottles. The bottle would get too high and they'd be soaked from the leaking. Try lowering the angle of the bottles a little bit to see if that helps.

honey, don't worry about what anyone else says about raising your children, they are your and whatever works for you, you go with. i used to prop up my kids bottle too. i used cereal in his bottle, but just a little, like half a formula scooper. it depends on how much they are eating i guess. i don't think adding cereal will help you though. i think it just has to do with the way that the baby is drinking from the nipple.

never add cereal to the baby's bottle.

anytime my girls would get soaked with formula, it was usually because the bottle cap/nipple was not on right. sometimes i would have to twist it several times before it would go on properly. it would look fine until i tried to feed them and with every suck, they would get a chestful dripping down.

that's the best i can do for ya. good luck.

Is it only when the bottle is propped? If it is try propping the bottle either a little lower or higher.
