Well, maybe its the fact that dog years are 7 to our 1. So you must be having a birthday party for him every 1 1/2 months or so.
First of all, dogs don't know it's their birthday.
Second, if you really did spend that kind of money it's a real waste.
That amount of money could have cared/supported/ really made a difference for the homeless or your local animal shelter.
Your boyfriend isnt dumping you because he doesnt believe other people celebrate their dog's birthday, he is dumping you because that amount of money for a dog is just plain stupid and he is worried what else you will waste his money on if the relationship ever got serious.
You are either lying or very inconsiderate to waste that money on a dog when it could go for people needs.

seek help now. Dogs have no concept of the gregorian calander or any other calender. So by design they dont remember dates and dont have an anniversaries. I think your boyfriend did the correct thing as spending that much on a dogs birthday party is madness. If it had just been a random whim to buy the dog presents then fine you have been dumped unfairly.

I have to tell you that this is ridiculous. Was NINE THOUSAND really the amount that was needed to throw a dog a party?
I all about celebrating our four legged friends, but that is completely excessive. No matter how much you spend on your now ex-boyfriend for his birthday or Christmas, its still outrageous to spend that kind of money on a dog's birthday party... would you really spend that kind of money on a child's birthday party?
I can't imagine what that money bought, especially for a dog!
You were wrong in this, and your boyfriend is smart. If you blow this amount of money on something like this, I can't imagine what else you blow your money on, on a weekly basis.

Well, your boyfriend doesn't respect your love for nature and animals. You love you dog and since you can afford it, you spent the money. It IS just money after all, and if your boyfriend dumped you for you doing something you think (and 20 other people) is right to do, then you're better off without him. He'll come back if he loves you. I wouldn't contact him at all. And it looks like you wrote only 9 dollars. did you mean $9000.00? You have to admit that's a lot of money, but if it's yours, then it's okay for you to do anything you'd like with your money. If it's your boyfriends money, then you're totally in the wrong.

$9,000? on a dogs birthday? My dear, I got no problem with dogs but I think u need to reevaluate ur priorities.
That does say nine thousand right? How can u spend 9 grand on a dog. That's not even spent on me in a lifetime.
And u ask why he dumped u? I might if u had spent 9 thousand on a dog. I got no problem u loving ur dog, but that's overkill.

This is a joke right? A nine thousand dollar "birthday party" for a dog? Um...on another note I don't know of a single, solitary person who celebrates their dog's birthday. Are you kidding? My dogs get dry food everyday. Birthday included. Hey...what do they know?
Quite frankly...I'd drop you like a hot potato if you spent nine grand on a dog's party.

if he dumped you for that without talking about it first then its his loss.as for the dog try treating it as a dog no amount of money spent on it will make it feel any different towards you it loves you for who you are not what it gets and frankly your bf should try doing the same.happy birthday to your dog and good luck

ok, if that's supposed to be 9,000 dollars as in nine-THOUSAND then that's way overboard for a dogs birthday! I have 2 dogs that I love more than life itself, but that's a lot of money, when your dog probably didn't even know what was going on
but i did give my dog a birthday peanut butter muffin, she loved it
