well davinci was a dreamer had he lived in more modern time he would have been the greatest inventor and they have been some really good answers but the one person i feel started the greatest revolution that has changed the world is Alexander Graham Bell he is the one who opened up the age of mass comunication by inventing the telephone with out that all this wouldn't be possible.

I thought he was the guy from 'Titanic'.
Seriously, DaVinci was a great dreamer. Most of the things he designed were good ideas. He did not have the ability to bring most of his ideas to light. Edison, however, had the ability to bring his ideas to fruition. DaVinci was ahead of his time. There were great inventors throughout history. Remember, necessity is the mother of invention.
The inventor with the greatest impact on human existence has to be.....(drum roll, please)
Albert Einstein
His Theory of Relativity brought the technology of the atomic bomb.

I'd go with the 'or what'.
Damn... I was going to go with Edison. Oh well, I still get 2 pts.
Leonardo was more of a brilliant dreamer and artist.
What were his inventions? I don't think an ornithopter counts.

He was a genius but so was Nikola Tesla and I think Tesla created more of our world than DaVinci.
Our electrical system is Tesla's not Edison's.
