Johnny Stanky and the Coal Miners or Jimmy Sturr and his orchestra...no one can argue this without losing.

REO Speedway? Didn't they do covers of "Ride Sally Ride" and "Born to Run"? And didn't they open for the Stones at Altamont? Did they change their name in the '80s to The Cars? ;)
Best bands of the '80s? The Police and J. Geils. Best bands of all time? The Who ("Won't Get Fooled Again" - Greatest rock song of all time) and Rush ("Freewill" - Second greatest rock song of all time).

REO Speedway ('speedWAGON', my as*) were pretty good, but on the whole, lose out to the G Jeils Band.
PS: Yeah, right. What did Johnny Stanky and the Coal Miners ever do after 'Come Off It, Eileen'?
PPS: Oh dear, I think 'sleepybuckets' is suffering from severe irony deficiency. And I can't help being little, my ancestors were bred that way...

Hmmmm...does Billy Idol count as a band? If he does, I'm going with Billy. I'd also pick Dire Straits and Guns N' Roses.
