Methuselah.

"And all the days of Methusela were nine hundred sixty and nine years: and he died." (Genesis 5:27). A few interesting notes about this man: First, he is the oldest recorded human being in history because the record of his life is in the most accurate historical account on earth, namely THE BIBLE! God makes NO mistakes! The Bible is PERFECT for those "skeptics" who would just take the time to READ AND STUDY IT! Second, his name means "The year of his death comes the flood." In the Bible, names always have great significance! "A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches" (Proverbs 22:1). Who doesn't know the importance of a GOOD reputation? Methuselah was from very good stock, having the godly Enoch who "walked with God: and he was not; for God took him." (Genesis 5:24). It was Enoch who named Methuselah, and according to Jude 14&15, he was a prophet who prophesied of God's coming JUDGMENT in his day! Hence, his godly insight in naming his son AS A WARNING to the ungodly back then, as well as us today! Because he spoke of CHRIST'S SECOND COMING when He will judge THIS wicked world yet again! Except this time it will be "In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ" (2 Thessalonians 1:7-10). Third, please note that it says "he died". With the exception of Enoch and Elijah, EVERYONE dies! My question for all you "brilliant scholars" and "scientists" is WHY DO WE AGE AND DIE? I don't mean from a BIOLOGICAL standpoint, but just LOGICALLY, please explain WHY we age and die? After all, if "evolution" is true, we ought to be getting better and better and LIVING FOR EVER! But the fact is WE DO NOT! And there is only ONE explaination WHY: it's called SIN! "Wherefore,as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned....For the wages of sin is DEATH" (Romans 5:12; 6:23). Like in Methuselah's day, God has given us WARNING today, except by a much more POWERFUL name, that of JESUS CHRIST who "came into the world to save sinners" (1 Timothy 1:15). When YOU die, will you meet Him as YOUR SAVIOUR, or YOUR JUDGE? The choice, just like in Methuselah's and Noah's day, is YOURS! Which will it be.....the "ark" of God's saving grace, or the PRISON of your own unbelief?
