Because it's too hot with both feet covered, they end up that way from tossing and turning, or they're just psychotic.

For me, i do this and i tend to not slip out of it..i sleep out with one foot of the covers because if i have one foot out and one foot in the covers my body temperature remains level. as strange as that sounds i know, but its true. if my left foot or right is out getting the cool air from the a/c and the other foot is in staying warm it keeps and generates my body temperature from me getting "too cold or too hot"

It helps to regulate the body temperature. You notice that some people don't want to sleep without covers. Slipping their feet out lets the extra heat disperse and you still get to pull the covers up over your head.

Sometimes I do because it helps to regulate my body temperature. If I'm just slightly too warm under the covers, one foot out cools me off just enough.

Temperature control I will put one foot out when I am warm, to let out a little body heat.

ALL GOOD ANSWERS++++++++++++++I Am GOING THROUGH MENOPAUSE, AND THE ONE FOOT OUT THING, well it lets me handle hot flashes through the night so that I am only partly awakened by the internal steam!
Well until 3:30 a.m. and all bets are off, I SWEAT,BURN,WRING WATER FROM MY BODY, NO MATTER WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Both feet out.My feet suffocate if they are under the covers.
