Me and My Boyfriend are talking about marriage. He is a Marine stationed in DC. I Turn 18 Next August and We Plan On Getting Married At The End Of August Or Early September Depending On When He Gets To Leave DC for North Carolina. It Sounds Great, But What Will It Be Like For Us After We Get Married? I Plan On Going To College And We Cant Decide If It Would Be Best For Me To Go With Him And Go To College There Or Stay In Our Home State And Go To College Here. Whats It Like Being Married To A Marine?...Any Information You Can Give Me Will Be Of Help..Thanks! (I may have more questions, im just so overwhelmed with it all, i cant think of them at the moment)

Yes Cindy--I Do Love Him And Do Very Much So Want To Marry Him. I Know It Will Be Hard Being A Marine Wife. We're Just Trying To Decide On The Whole College Thing Right Now, Because I Already Have Over 20 College Hours For A College In My State And Im Not Sure If They Transfer Those Hours To An Out Of State College. After Going To NC He Will Only Have Like A Year and A Half Left Then He Will Be Back To Our Home State To Be A Recruiter Here. Should We Go Through The Hassle Of Moving There, Me Going To College There For That Year and a Half, Then Having To Switch Back To A College Thats Back Home?

The real question here is...what do you two think is best??? No one else can tell you what is right for your relationship. I've know people who got married and hadn't know each other even a month and worked out great. On the other hand, I've known people who waited years and years and it didn't work.

Yes, it will be hard. He may have to leave sometimes to defend our country, but if you are willing to be there for him and support him through those times, then it won't matter.

Yes, you are young, but we don't know you personally. You may be mature beyond your years. I was much more mature than my peers at 18, however, I couldn't now imagine having been married then. But I can't say the same for you because I don't know you.

As far as college, there are colleges everywhere. You have to make the decision between going to school in your old familar home town, or going to school where you can be with him. If you would rather be at home for now, than I would say wait a bit to get married. If you would marry him and then live so far away, you probably aren't completely ready yet. What if he doesn't get recruiter's duty where you think he will? (It's been known to happen!)

Marriage is give and take. The butterflies won't always be there. The passion will fade. Marry someone you can talk to, and someone who makes you laugh. Be sure you guys are willing to compromise to meet the best interest of the marriage and always support each other.

Whatever your decision, good luck. Best wishes to you and him!

Honey, you're still very young. Why rush marriage? You need to grow up a bit. Go to college and when you're done, you'll be at a much better place in life to get married. Believe, you don't realize how much you love someone until you spend some time apart. And if he's going to Camp Lejeune, let me tell you the guys there are such a bunch of horn dogs! Jacksonville, NC is such a small town, yet they have a good number of strip clubs and cheap motels. Not to disrespect your guy, but don't rush into something you might wind up regretting.

My husband was in the AF and it was so nice. The benefits are really great and you really adopt a whole family of great coworkers. If you're going to marry him, you might as well go with him and go to college there. God bless!!!!!!!!
