Don't consider this a problem if your not doing anything illegal!
There are millions of people in this country unless your making calls overseas to people of suspect you have nothing to worry about. Besides you have everything the government wants to know about you on your income taxes. What are people worried about? Microsoft probably knows more about you than the government does.

Because they are whiners. They do not want us to be safe at all. It was working fine and then the news got a hold of all of it and they ruined it too. They tipped the people who where being tapped and screwed it that way. People suck. We need that phone tapping. If the government wants to tap my phone they can do it. I wouldn't care. I have nothing to hide. Why are the Dem's trying to save those people. If the terrorists in this country want to do something else how are we going to find out. The liberal media has tipped them off with everything that we were using against them and it pisses me off. I hate it. What are we suppose to us against them now? They also know about how we track them through bank accounts. It is horrible. This never would have happened in the 40's. This country was together through ww2. What happened to this country?

Have there been lives saved by phone tapping? Do you have proof of this. My best guess is that you don't. It is and should not be only about liberals wanting to "sacrifice lives" but is about our civil liberties. Are you honestly comfortable with the government spying on you, your telephone conversations, and your Internet activity? If so, then you are completely complacent and need to reevaluate what America was built on.

And neither do you. You don't even know if a life has been threatened unless you can read minds. Just because people would like to have their privacy and for the president to get a warrant to listen doesn't mean that they want terrorist in the country. Whether you know it or not, the president and his cronies are the world's biggest terrorists and they are who you should be warry of, not some outside terrorist. If you pay attention to detail you would see that the only threat to the American way of life with freedom is the current Administration!!

Because the whinning left-wing zealots will not be happy for any reason. They will tie the hands of law enforcement then wonder why law enforcement did not stop the terrorists.

They will do everything to coddle the terrorists and then decry our trying to punish them.

The liberals hate America and hate Americans. They should all go to Muslim land and try to be liberal over there. The ragheads would kill them and not lose a wink of sleep over it.

Sorry, but the Constitution is the LAW, you and everybody else including Bush must obey the law and in this case the law is very very very easy to obey. All it requires in order to tap legally is a court warrant, and the law set up special courts in which those warrants are very very easy to obtain. Just what is it conservatives want to conserve? Obviously its not the Constitution. Or the nation's economy, either. Please quit parroting BS from drug addict Rush Limbaugh.

Liberals would rather run up to a terrorist and give them a big sloppy kiss, a big warm hug, and a daisy to put in their hair. Then after an hour of dick sucking, they'll go hit the pipe together. Isn't that a warm, fuzzy scene?

Benjamin Franklin one of this countries founding fathers said:

"They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety."

Benjamin Franklin, Historical Review of Pennsylvania, 1759
US author, diplomat, inventor, physicist, politician, & printer (1706 - 1790)

Our constitution guarantees us the freedom to live our lives without undue interference from our government.

If we give up all rights to privacy and individual autonomy then we become exactly like the people we fight against. And they win their goals without firing a shot. Or in their case, strapping on some dynamite

The phrase you're looking for is "warrantless wiretapping," which is illegal. The administration broke the law.

I do know that wiretapping *with a warrant* is a necessary part of our intelligence to fight terrorism.

Fun fact: The British, who were responsible for uncovering the recent bombing plot, got a lot of their intelligence through wiretapping--for which they had to get warrants.

ADD: It amuses me when people say that "now the terrorists know what we're doing." Like they didn't know we'd tap their phone conversations? Get real.

We are not against phone tapping We are against illegal phone tapping. Your idiot president had a legal way to do it, and chose to ignore the law. Do we get to ignore all laws whenever they are convenient? Who gets to decide?

There are for more important things at stake here than a few lives. If we could save 2 lives by torturing one baby, should we do it?
