And so has sillysammi2u.
For the record, I have an I.Q. of 135. That's considered quite bright, much higher I'm sure than the majority of people on Yahoo! Answers.

tower816 has proved I'm smarter than him and has also lied about his I.Q. Geniuses generally know how to spell doubt.

In fourth grade, I took a reading level test. It showed that my reading level was that of a college freshman. I was given an I.Q. test in kindergarten, and was immediately entered into the gifted education program. Apparently the teacher was quite surprised and pleased with the results, which were much higher than that of the average kindergartener.

Shelly, I highly doubt your claims. If you're in college, you should at least be able to spell it.

First, your proposal is question-begging, so I won't answer it.
If however one is to ask: "Why am I so much smarter than population X," then there is room for dialogue without self-deprication..
If you believe there is a sufficient reason for every happening, I suggest otherwise.

The fortuitous can greatly efffect our lives.

But, I'd also be a fool to suppose it has nothing to with your upbringing. And some claim that genetics is also a factor, though I find the idea of quantifiable intelligence above contingent cultural fact as circular as this question.

You're not. You are conceited, arrogant, childish i.e. immature and self-deluded as well as self-centered.
What good really is having an IQ of 135 when you don't have common sense and wisdom. You need to start now on knowing how to treat people. You need to learn how to win friends and influence people...don't you think ?
When you become an adult I can assure you that this attitude of yours will get you nowhere.

Could it be you are gifted with an abundance of natural intelligence or is it that you have applied yourself and obtained education and degrees to prove you are, or is it that you have lived long, experienced much and become so very wise? And then again, are you really smarter than me? Does it matter?

Congratulations (sound of applause), but what will you do with your IQ?
There are so many brilliant people who waste their life, rather than use this gift to better society. Often they have no common sense, are not street wise and never stop to listen to other people who are just average.
I'm just average and very happy to be so.

Why are you trying to sound smart?? Because I hope you know that you are just making yourself sound pathetic and very stupid. You sound like the type of person that's probably very horrible at school and just want people to think that you're smart. So ah ha! sorry. it did'nt work.

You have a good point, but I think the "I'm smarter than you" argument is usually used only in cases where it's pretty obvious

Because highly intelligent people like yourself are often in need of external validation. Greater intelligence, as well as great talent, often carries with it a greater burden of insecurity.

Because, you love yourself,
you think you're grand.
When you go to the movies,
you hold your hand.
You put your arm around your waist,
If you get fresh you slap your face.
You're a legend in your own mind.
